If ford introduces what they have on the 23 SuperDuty there will be nothing easy about upgrades or adding things going forward.

In fact I had a thread I was going to post about the 24. I was waiting to confirm if they had it or not.

It was going to recommend that but the truck you want because the days of adding things will become A LOT more difficult.

The days of changing as built is coming to an end. Ford has added all kinds of obstacles in the 23 SD.

So be forewarned. The 24 F150 I am willing to bet will have the same thing. You will not be able to do anything without fdrs and you will not be able to do anything that doesn’t align with the truck

The comms are end to end encrypted. It’s going to be very hard. You will have to know exactly what you’re doing and if not you’ll be out whatever you spent on the module.

I have hit several road blocks on the super duty. I was able to get some things accomplished but it will be very limited.

I’ve already spoken to Forscan and they are aware of it also
As long as we still get to use FDRS to fix the broken Ford update process. This is first truck I've ever modified the asbuilt for a few convenience items but it's not anything I can't live without. I can see it being a major roadblock to trying to add equipment after buying truck though as you have done.

The black appliqué is a HUGE selling point for me on the BAP platinums. It’s the main reason I chose a platinum over a lariat

Now that looks HOT! I kinda wish I got the BAP as I originally ordered it for just that look. But it was not meant to be.

Compared to 2021-2023 Platinums
- Tail gate looks much better - I like the clean look.
- The grill looks great.

Not a comparison to earlier Gen 14's... just my opinion on badging in general.
-Ford should remove the Platinum badging on the hood. It shouldn't be in your face just like it shouldn't be in your face on the tailgate in GIGANTIC letters.
  • Platinum is already there on the fender badge.
  • The grill also lets you know it is a Platinum. Duh! I can look in my rear view mirror and know a Platinum is behind me because grills are unique to each F-150 model.
  • I'd be okay with a very small Platinum badge on the tailgate, for those that really really want to know what I am driving that are behind a Platinum. Same with XL, XLT, Lariat..
- I wish all the F-150's would remove the stickers on the tailgate fenders and just add small 4x4 or FX4 badges under the door badge.

I think all brands should remove the silly 4x4 and other vinyl stickers but that's just me. I peal them off anyway.

Then there is that one guy who buys the whole bin of 4x4 chrome stick on emblems at the parts store and puts them on every surface of the vehicle. You know you have one near you. ?

I always thought the giant platinum panel on the tailgate was the worst looking part of an otherwise good looking truck. Keep it simple. Nice grille and some unique rims and don't mess with the good style of the truck. Interior is where higher trims can stand out more.

Will the 2024 be a gen 15? What constitutes a new generation?

Sheet metal, new generation is when doors and fenders change for the most part.

And don't forget they might kill most physical buttons in upper trims for their stupid & ugly Sync 4a vertical screen.

Hard buttons and large horizontal screen is one of my favorite things about the current gen.

Ford is stopping the 1 thing they have always had over Tesla...
Don't worry they will probably still have the 20 buttons to the left of steering wheel.

OK, so 2015-2020 for Gen 13. 2021-present for gen 14, so 2024 will be considered a refresh with 2026 for gen 15?

Never know when they are moving up a generation. Most the time changes are minor and even a new generation is often just cosmetic changes from what I've seen.

I hated the look of the early aluminum body F-150 but I like the body lines of current generation. Last generation had weird taillights. Current is similar to my 2011 style just comically oversized.
