Where do Limited trucks fall into this whole Tailgategate?

I have a 2023 Tremor and begrudgingly went with the Bed Utility Package. I say begrudgingly since I only wanted 2 of the 4 things included in the package.
  • Boxlink: Wanted, and use often
  • Power Tailgate: Didn't want/need. For me it's more of a show off feature than one I really use.
  • Tailgate Step: Didn't want/need. I've only taken it out like 2-3 times in the first month of ownership to show others. I've never understood the big deal about bed access, and for decades just step on top of one of tires. That said, I would use the bumper cut out that Chevy has had for years....no need to add several moving parts into the mix. Seems like Ford finally jumped on this one too.
  • LED Box Lighting: Wanted. #1 option out of these 4. LOVE IT.

There is no Limited trim in 2024. It has been replaced with the Platinum Plus trim, which is the 703a trim. It is basically the Limited without I presume the limited production number being included in the vehicle . It gets the new tailgate if it is a Job 2, which it sounds like 99% of them will be.

Ah…thanks for that. A buddy ordered a 2024 F350 Limited, and I just assumed the F150 line had that level as well. He ordered in Jun or July through Granger……doesn’t even have his VIN yet.

We have at least one Platinum order on this board that has been scheduled. What your dealer is saying sounds like what Chip at Granger is saying. He said there would be a very limited run of KR and Plats in Job 1 (probably just to say they are out there and maybe for some who have a priority code that indicates they need it soon). He said his sources at Ford said that the vast majority would be Job 2. I assume this means everyone with a 19 priority code.

I personally am grateful. I was going to cancel if it was scheduled for Job 1 because I want the new tailgate (and see if I could submit another order into Job 2). It is one of the reasons I ordered a 2024. I had so many deletes on my 2022 that I accepted. I am not wanting to compromise again.
My 703A is scheduled for week of Jan 22.

I won't be accepting the truck with any deletes.....except the silly tailgate. I prefer the step vs the multi-functionality. Same as you, one of my '22 lariats has a bunch of deletes, the other does not.

I waited till 2024 to order a platinum with all the features. Ford has really taken things to the extreme with deleting standard trim level options. Screwing owners and future resale imo

I'm with you. I am going to order a '24 Tremor, but really want the new tailgate. So, I'm waiting. Hopefully it will be in early Job 2.

Yeah, I checked on the chat today and my order is still listed as "order in processing." That's good for me. I was getting worried because I am seeing a lot of Plat orders getting build times on the forum, which surprises me. I've asked and some have 19 priority codes like me as well. Not sure if this is a dealer allocation deal or what but ppl who ordered the same trim as me, after me, already have build dates in late January/early February - not late enough for Job 2.

I think the earliest we might see those tailgates is March and that is a stretch. More likely May. They usually transition over to Job 2 around then, but they might wait until later this year since they got a late start. When we start to see Tremors getting scheduled for builds is when I think that they have gotten the tailgates.

I got an update this afternoon from Chip @ Granger regarding the tailgates and KR and Plats:

He said that new information from Ford says that current orders will be equipped with the tailgate step so production sounds like it is moving well and they are chewing through orders. He further said that Ford is targeting mid to late January to open up "Job 2" orders that will come with the Pro-Access tailgate instead. However, as they are going through the orders, they are going to make all current orders with the tailgate step - not gonna wait until Job 2 - unless:

He said at least Granger is giving us the option that If you want the new Pro-Access Tailgate, they will manually delay your order (change to priority code 99) and the order will not get scheduled until Job 2 opens. I asked some questions in response, but it was late and he hasn't gotten back with me yet.

My first question is that when you switch it back from a 99 Priority, what does it go to - 19 again? It would suck to get all the way in the back of the line. Second, does this have any effect on a PCO that was predicated on ordering prior to January 2nd. I did, but is my opting into this 99 Priority going to somehow screw me out of $2k? Let you know what he says.

I don't get the feeling that the "line" is all that long these days.

Ford website states "Late Availability" for the Pro Access tailgate. According to Long McArthur Ford, that typically means you'll start seeing them in June or so.

Personally the new tailgate is not a must have...albeit nice. I spend more time in my cabin driving so I want the creature comforts and HUD etc.

June is pretty late. You might as well just wait and order a 2025 model.

Not a single person has been delivered their 2024 yet that I have seen. Ford has effectively moved the model year in sync with the calendar year. June is the middle now. I think that the days of seeing the 25's start to show up in August are done.

Where do I look to see what is being built or being scheduled?

True, and it should be discounted as the buyer is eating 3 months of depreciation on paper.

It would be disappointing to see the 2024 Platinum (especially 703A Platinum Plus) with the same tailgate as the Lariat. The only acceptable alternative would be the inclusion of the Satin Aluminum Finish Tailgate Appliqué, similar to what was seen on the 2023 Limited. Additionally, a good alternative would be if they allowed a replacement tailgate program at Ford dealerships at minimal or no cost.
