Slightly off topic too but things like massaging seats, power tailgate, power runming boards, and CCD suspension all seem like problems down the line if you keep it for a while.
If I had to buy a truck today I'd get a 500a lariat black pack. Those are sweet and not $80k.
I don't know if I've seen a single unhappy 5.0L owner on this forum, which says something.
Super reliable, great mpg, great noises (even in stock form no exhaust), great power, best mpg while towing....
Not 1 single issue I've seen on the internet related to Cylinder deactivation or the wet...
Sweet setup OP. BFG KO's are nice and meaty.
One thing to note though, it's not just total weight that affects the energy required to rotate. It's where the mass is located. In a tire, the vast majority of the mass is located at the farthest point away from the center (the tread + belts).
So...
In my opinion, the mods I would do in order:
1. Rear shocks - bilstein 4600 for stock height, 5100s if you want to lift the front
2. Rear sway bar
3. Front shocks
1 & 2 are easily reversible and self installable. I did just the rear shocks on my current truck and am happy. On my 2015 I did...
That's been my experience too. My 21 had 18s + the powerboost and it rode super smooth compared to a buddy's platinum PB. Also think the regen is more effective with the lighter wheel.
The rear 4600 bilsteins I have now on mine might be a better compromise than the 5100s for a stockish height...
Most of that is BS.
I would say that the transmission fluid change is useful. The "official" 150k service interval is BS. That's basically asking for a replacement transmission.
Though, the dealer should be giving you a new filter and be doing a pan drop at > $300 .
That works, or you can look at the "blend date" listed in the top left of the window sticker.
Most 2022s are before the cutoff. Mine was luckily 1 month before so hopefully mine breaks under warranty.
Get a 23+ or a 22 that was made post August, when they started putting the fixed CDF drum in the 10r80 transmission.
2.7's seemed to have that problem less so than the 3.5/5.0, but that's a 6-11k repair when it happens (only really applies to trucks built before September 2022).
2.7 is an...
I've had 2 occurences of this issue in the past month:
- when I shift the truck into reverse after a 5-10 minute drive, the entire truck, screens and steering will all completely shut off, sometimes while moving at a slow speed
Many occurences of:
- Adaptive cruise unavailable - steering assist...
The first thing I would do is bump your (at least the front) tires up to 38-39 psi.
Next step would be to replace the rear shocks with bilstein 4600 shocks (or 5100 if you want to lift the front eventually).
I have the 4600 rears and stock 18" tire size rims with 39 psi all around and got rid...
Clunkiness and shuddering is not normal. Hopefully they sort that out.
However in 3rd gear, ford programming locks the torque converter so it feels like there is an extra shift in there. That's actually normal.
No thanks.
Because of no physical buttons, I'm looking at used vehicles for the first time in my life.
And I get company plan pricing.
Unbelievable how they call "reducing part complexity" a boost to quality when literally no one EVER had their AC buttons fail.
The 10r80 -> now that is a...
Michelin Defenders - great all round
General Grabbert HT - probably best treadwear per $
Destination LE3 - lightest of the bunch
Bridgestone Dueler LX - light and very good performance
Continental TerrainContact HT - best all round performer...
