Have '21 XLT max tow with the 275 60 20. I think they are standard load. We tow quite a bit ranging from utility trailer, seadoo, enclosed with rtt, sleds to 27ft TT (7000lbs). Got a little stuck on sand trail last week so time for an upgrade. Majority of driving is paved with the odd gravel road. Sandy conditions usually a few times a year.

Have cooper snow claws for winter. Would like something that is still good on noise level. Should I look to go up in load rating on the tire? Not sure if the shops got a deal on Toyo but they are all pushing the Toyo Open Country at3.
Any recommendations?

I have had Michelin Defender LTX M&S on 4 different f150's usually get over 70k out of them, still have descent tread at that point but figure my life is worth more than 1300.00 so why chance it, quite and good traction in dry, wet, snow. Actually am having the Pirellis taken off today that only have 287 miles on them on our newest 25' and putting the LTX's on. That is how much I have hated the Scorpions on every truck. I tow an enclosed 21' sxs trailer, a 21' boat and have zero issues with these tires.

If you tow 7000 pounds regularly, I would recommend an E rated tire. The Michelins are always going to be highly recommended. Since you have dedicated winter tires, I stick with Michelin or Continental if you want the quietest tire that will handle all weather conditions well.

For you guys with experience on the Pirellis and going to the Defenders how did your fuel economy do? The Defenders are 3#s heavier so 12#s more on the truck. Probably best case scenario for a quality tire with minimal fuel economy hit.

I have not compared vs the pirellis as i have had the hankooks on my trucks, but the defenders are lighter the hankooks and i got better mileage.... on my 22 i just switched to defenders right before i traded it in and i made the dealer swap the new hankooks with the two week old defenders for my 25 and i just finished our big camping trip of the year with 7500 lbs trailer and the defenders are a way better tire all the way around.

No sand in my life but gravel and pavement and dedicated winters and defenders are my #1 choice...

Toyo's all the way ... I regularly get 65K miles before I even need to think about new ones. I do not have the e-rated and they have enough capacity for towing, etc. Good wear (rotate every oil change), not noisy and they are NOT heavy tires! Great (and I mean really good) in the snow and very good in sand even without letting air out. Love these tires.

Gearhead!
Michelin Defenders - great all round

General Grabbert HT - probably best treadwear per $

Destination LE3 - lightest of the bunch

Bridgestone Dueler LX - light and very good performance

Continental TerrainContact HT - best all round performer

Stay away from Goodyear. Especially the factory F150 factory tires, they like to get punctured and not stop

and their brand likes to get political every now and then.

See Goodyear powerboost stopping (185 feet)
vs the Michelin primacy xc on the same truck (203 feet)
and that may be Michelin's worst tire

Good luck!

Decided to go with Nitto Terra Grappler G3. Already have about 2500km on them including towing 7000lb. Pretty happy with them so far. Probably only running them for another month or so before switching over to the winters Cooper Snow Claw.
