How many miles and years have you been able to get out of your Pirelli Scorpion ATR tires?

Removed before delivery. Funny thing while I was shopping around for new tires before taking possession of new truck the dealer didn’t want the tires period and was going to charge me a disposal fee to get rid of them and another local tire dealer offered me $25/tire for the factory takeoffs. I ended up getting $50/ea for them with less than 20 miles on them. Needless to say the ones who sell these tires don’t even want them.

I guess it depends on what type of vehicle. My Wife's Bronco Sport Badlands came with them and I was plenty impressed with how it does in snow.

But then, its a different type of drive system. Front wheel drive, with computer controlled AWD.

Haven't been in a hydroplaning situation though. Can't speak to that.

I turned in my 2022 with the Scorpions about 3 weeks ago. They had a little over 30K miles on them and were never rotated. The post-lease inspection returned a little less than 1/8” tread remaining on all four tires.

FWIW, when I got rid of ours my dealer gave me $100.00/tire against the price of a new set of Michelin Defenders. They still have the junk Pirellis.

It really ticks me off to have to go and spent $1,200.00 for a brand new truck for a quality tire.
I'm old and I know that, but I can remember when you could order the tires you wanted on a new car !!!!

They were tires. No better or worse than any others I've had.

Some of you have a lot of time and money on your hands.

Talked with my tire dealer and he said the only good Pirelli tire is their motorcycle tire.

I don’t think it’s too much to ask for a well taken care of tire and vehicle to not have tread separation in less than half it’s rated tread life. Never had this happen before. Because it is my time and money.:)

Them falling apart is one thing. That is garbage.

People acting like they're near death because of them is ridiculous. Maybe, the problem isn't the tire.

Over 60K on my originals. Likely could have gotten another 10K-20K but I wanted to get better tires on for winter (snow).

Davexxxx - My wife drove her BS in Minneapolis/St Paul for 2 years and never complained winter or summer. Soccer trips to Chicago, St Louis, Nashville and no complaints. Her 2023 Badlands is at 30K and the last trip we took got 32 mpg. Earlier this year it began making a noise like I needed to fix the wheel bearings. Turns out the rear tires were wearing funny. So they lasted 2 years and 30K miles.

In my F150, I would drive 6 hours to see her from Northern South Dakota. Fine for summer. No hydroplaning for me. Horrible winter tires-horrible. The tires would break loose on slippery roads even with 300lbs on the rear axel. I didn't wait around for that to happen again so this last winter I bought Goodyear DuraTrak's for a winter tire. Wonderful. I don't think it's fair for me to say miles/years for the Scorpions since they're now summer tires only.

As your experience shows, it can depend on the vehicle but people can be funny about tires.

According to this board, the Goodyear ATs that came on my truck are crap but I have zero complaints.

They might be a bit soft for hard core off roading in pointy rocks but I really like them. At 36psi, they are squishy but they have a super wide PSI range (up to 56) that lets me tailor them to whatever loading I'm putting on them and with a range like that, I doubt they could be called a weak design, or materials.

Good traction wet, or snow. Haven't had them in deep sand or mud so, can't speak to that.

At a fuzz over 18Kmiles, (rotated every 5K) and half of that, towing close to payload max, they still have plenty of meat on them. They may not make it to 60K but something would have to happen, for them not to make 40

But like in this thread, some people were yanking them off, even pre delivery.

I dumped mine at 2 years / 24,000 miles - NOT because they were wore out (they had plenty of tread), but because I thought they were crap, borderline dangerous tires. They weren't good in the snow, but much more importantly, they were highly prone to hydroplane, even in just a moderate rain. Your experiences may be different.
I agree with the Hydroplaning. My daughter and wife agree. I had BF Goodrich KO2 on my Jeep and Ford Ranger. Loved them and had no problem with hydroplaning. The Pirelli Scorpion ATR is wearing well, but there isn't anywhere for the water to go. They are a great highway tire because they are quiet. And they do handle all terrains, but they don't handle any type of moderate to heavy rain.

I am going to purchase new tires. I have the Defenders on my Wife's Expedition. Can't decide on Defenders, Trail-Terrain T/A, or All-Terrain T/A KO2. I really like the KO2s, but don't do the off-roading that I did before, and really like the quietness with my current Pirelli Scorpions at 49,000 miles.

Ordered some Nokian Outpost NAT tires. Have run a lot of their winter tires over the years and have been curious about these that are US made.

I really like KO2s but my last set on the Land Cruiser wore out in half the mileage.

Because of their propensity to hydroplaning, I described the Scorpions as being "borderline dangerous" in a different post elsewhere. As for me, I replaced them with the Michelin Defenders. I have used them before and am extremely satisfied. But tire selection is sort of like selecting motor oil - everyone has a different idea of what's best. Brand "X" is superior to all others, etc., etc., so I don't even enter that debate - to each, his own....

Defenders are good tires. Most people in the truck/suv world seem to pick tires for looks not their intended purpose. In a large section of the USA a Defender would be the best choice for how most American's drive.
