  1. Starlink Mini Install, Operation, and Lessons Learned

I timed how long the 12V outlet lasted yesterday in it's factory setting after I turned off the ignition and locked the door. 45 minutes. 45 minutes is perfect for me for just about anything for normal driving. That works great for short rest stops, grocery, and getting gas. Over the last...
  2. Starlink Mini Install, Operation, and Lessons Learned

I think your solution is going to be perfect. I worry a little about severe weather and lack of protection related to wind knocking down branches or hail. Since I have an aluninum tonneau cover that will be much worse if not impossible for a signal, I plan to put some heavy duty velcro on the...
  3. Starlink Mini Install, Operation, and Lessons Learned

The plastic cover and fiberglass top should work about identical for signal. I think the only negative on the fiberglass is that it can get about 50F hotter than outside temperature compared to about 20F hotter than with the vinyl cover. The Starlink mini has a max temperature rating of 122F...
  4. Starlink Mini Install, Operation, and Lessons Learned

Impractical for driving. It's a phased array antenna with many tiny radiating elelements spread across the face of the antenna. That means most of the alignment is done internally. The antenna chooses the radiating elements to use to form and electronically steer the beam. The beam has a 110...
  5. Starlink Mini Install, Operation, and Lessons Learned

What mount are you using if any? Can you put the Starlink Mini between the sunshade and the moonroof to keep it from falling down? Is that a good option? Does the Starlink interfere with opening or shutting the Sunshade? Any problems with heat build up next to the moonroof turning off Starlink...
  6. Starlink Mini Install, Operation, and Lessons Learned

You are 100% right. I have a dashcam too and it is a PITA to remember to turn off the Sync wifi projector. My phone always connects to whatever Wifi I choose, except when I enable the Wifi projector on Sync. If the Sync wifi projector is enabled, my phone will only connect to the Sync wifi...
  7. Starlink Mini Install, Operation, and Lessons Learned

AA worked perfect today using the USB-C connection method. My truck's steering wheel mic button, voice through the trucks speaker when I say "Hey Google", and bluetooth for sound over the truck's speakers all worked together. Maybe my software settings finally cleared all the phone, Sync, and...
  8. Starlink Mini Install, Operation, and Lessons Learned

The short answer is yes, but I didn't get it from Savage UTV. So, funny back story that actually gives you more buying options based on my lessons learned. I ordered both the Starlink Mini and Savage UTV F-150 mount the same day without the $60 add-on metal anti theft mount from Savage UTV...
  9. Starlink Mini Install, Operation, and Lessons Learned

One thing I forget to mention. If you don't turn off Wi-Fi projection on your Sync system it is impossible for your phone to stay connected to Starlink. AA will force the phone to use the Sync Wi-Fi projector.
  10. Starlink Mini Install, Operation, and Lessons Learned

I'm sharing my experience with 2 days under my belt with Starlink and hope to learn from others how to make the F-150 Starlink Mini experience better. Power input - Purchased the Starlink Mini Car Adapter from Starlink. It comes with an 12V adapter, 5 meter cable, and lets you use your 12V...
  11. Fuel Door Pin

Thanks. I'll guess I'll order one of those too.
  12. Fuel Door Pin

Just ordered a Megaohm fuel door pin and see that it doesn't appear to include the rubber piece. My question is what bad things will happen if I no longer have the rubber piece from the old fuel door pin and install the Megaohm fuel door pin without the rubber covering. What is the purpose of...
  13. Doors keep locking while washing

Would hand washing the black buttons on the door handle cause it to lock?
  14. Adaptive Cruise Control Bug?

Has anyone else experienced a situation where they accidentally fat fingered two adaptive cruise buttons at the same time and caused their adaptive cruise to cancel with a message that says that Adaptive Cruise is not available? I have had this happen to me at least several times in the last 6...
  15. How many of your driver assist features do you use?

I use them all, but only use the speed sign recognition rarely for certain parts of the country that are very rural that have long single lane highways going from one rural town to another.
  16. F150 Hard Folding Bed Covers

I found this info that might help.
  17. I Learned Something New Regarding My Spare Tire. And It Triggers a Question

1970s - I remember when I first started driving my car had 5 full size non steel belted tires. It was very rare to not to see a vehicle broken down off the side of the road. 1990s - Eventually steel belted tires became a thing on every car and it was rare to see a broke down vehicles on the...
  18. I Learned Something New Regarding My Spare Tire. And It Triggers a Question

The TPMS malfunction indication is ALWAYS ON and can't be cleared, even after you change the tire with the spare and the other three tire pressures are good. I don't mind that the spare doesn't have a TPMS to save cost, but I wish the TPMS malfunction software was smarter to eliminate the...
  19. F150 Hard Folding Bed Covers

Aluminum is rugged and is susceptible to dents. Fiberglass is susceptible to fading, cracking or breaking. Pick your poison. I purchased and installed a BAKFLIP MX4 aluminum trifold for my short bed F-150 three years ago that is parked outside all year long. It's only been through a couple...
