It happened again this Sunday, on a 650 mile trip from South Florida. Road rage drivers on interstate 95. The fact that I'm limited in speed and can't get away from these angry drivers is total nonsense. Let's put aside the problems humanity is facing right now, I can't address them or their behavior. I am never angry and always keep a cool head, drive with the flow of traffic, don't cut people off, I always let others pass by moving right, always courteous, and don't tailgate. Yet more and more often in recent years, people have problems with other drivers and they are out looking for trouble. I drive a great many miles, sometimes as much as 10,000 miles per month.

I may drive more in a month than many of you do in a year.

I'm not going to stop and confront someone on the side of the road. What I will do is try to get away.

I love the way my 2024 5.0 runs. It is plenty powerful, hauls a load wonderfully, and is amazingly comfortable on long trips and even returns good MPG.

But come on. Let me speed away from the angry if I need to. I do not want to be forced to fight.

#Ford, #5Star etc, all I need is speed limiter removal. Via an update, via a tune, I don't care. But I want it gone.
Carry a gun and don’t get yourself into these road rage situations in the first place. Avoid confrontation don’t go looking for it.

Can't do so North of the Mason Dixon line, now can I? NY, NJ and other states would gladly put me in jail for the crime of being armed.

Let's be honest here for a bit. I drive a lot and people are nuts now. It is not up to me when some crook wants an insurance payout or lawsuit.

By driving over 100 mph on the highway you are putting someone else's life in danger. Think about what could happen if you lose control and crash into someone else’s vehicle. What if there is a baby in that car or you maim or kill some else's son or daughter. Not worth engaging in road rage with other drivers, especially young dumb ones.

Ford put a speed limiter on these trucks because they are not designed to go over 100 MPH. The only reason I see removing the speed limiter as acceptable is for off road use such as for drag racing, like if you have a RCSB truck and drag race it. At least then if you crash its on you and not some innocent person just trying to get to work or home.
of the speed rating of the tires

I live in SFL and sympathise with the OP. I avoid taking I-95/the turnpike anywhere unless it's unavoidable or wildly impractical because people are just insane down here behind the wheel. Driving over 100 is definitely risky though due to how unpredictable everyone is plus my OEM Goodyears are only rated to 118mph anyway. I assume the other OEM tire options are similar. IMO, especially if you are unable to arm yourself, you just need to drive as defensively as possible in those situations, even to the point of taking an offramp or making a u turn though the median if it's possible/safe to do so. There have been many incidents over the last few years of road rage involving firearms so temporarily getting off route to get away is better than getting stopped.

Unfortunately the 2024 and newer trucks are still locked and can't be tuned yet but I hope they figure that out soon.

I hope you guys live long enough, to not feel the need to speed so much.

I drove a lot on the job. Always in a hurry, had to get to the next site. Do it all over again the next day. Year after year. Any tickets or damage, would have been mine, not my employers. Pretty dumb, when you put it that way.

Started having a recurring nightmare, waking up with a sense of impact. Nothing before, or after, just that.

While driving in my usual hurried fashion, someone pulled out in front of me. It was real close.

The thought occurred, that maybe the nightmares were me, telling myself to slow down.

So at that moment, I set the cruise at the speed limit and thats how I've driven from then on. That was about 30 years ago and the nightmares have never returned.

Ok, I'll bite too ... I too drive a lot (about 40K per year) and never have issues with the driving public. I attempt to wave politely, smile while I drive and keep a good attitude. I pass on the left, drive on the right and keep it about 10 over the limit most of the time. So exactly, how many people are confronting you in a given week or so? Maybe that is just a FL thing?

It's definitely a FL thing. Driving styles are mostly one extreme or the other here: below the limit and oblivious to the outside world or psychotically fast and aggressive. The closer to Miami you are the worse it gets. Sometimes the same person will even swap from one style to the other randomly. Worst drivers on the East Coast by far, backed up by my car insurance tripling in price just moving here from NC.

Wow, I thought those highway patrol chase videos were just super random!

Man this whole thread is wild. Guess I need to be a little less judgmental of the drivers around here.

I also like Paul's Boutique and Hello Nasty, the albums they released in '89 and '98 respectively.

I think the obvious answer here is to never live in Florida.

I mean not that I needed any more reasons than I've had from my 4 trips to that state, but apparently having a life/death need to go over 103 mph seems like a good one to add to the list.
