There are options to change/disable the fake engine noise in forscan, I believe.
Last time this discussion came up, there wasn't a clear answer if the PB even has fake engine sounds or not. Mine definitely doesn't sound like a V8 but it does have a bit more grumble vs my old truck with a 1st...
Despite the name, regenerative braking doesn't involve the brakes at all. Very basically: when you let off the gas and coast or lightly press the brake pedal the flow of electricity to the electric motor reverses and acts as a generator that pumps electricity back into the battery. In these...
Looking back I was somewhat mistaken as to the reason for the PBs being squirrelly in the snow. It's due to Regen only acting on the rear axle vs brakes doing all 4 wheels.
It comes up in this thread: https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/threads/first-truck-snow-driving-experience-typical.33441/
Awesome write up and some great pictures to go along with it!
On your fishtailing incident: I have yet to drive my truck in snow, but I've seen some discussion on here about the PowerBoost being a bit sketchy in the snow. Apparently, the Regen braking doesn't engage ABS so doing light braking...
That's interesting. I've never thought about how that meter got it's info and basically just trusted that it's reasonably accurate. The only anecdotal evidence I can provide is that any clunking I do feel seems to coincide with the bar showing friction braking coming in to assist the Regen on my...
It seems to be pretty universal that the H6 is undersized for these trucks. My '24 PB came with an H7 from the factory but I had the OEM battery give up the ghost on my previous truck after only a couple years so I'm expecting to replace this one sooner rather than later.
I've never driven a 4A truck, but my understanding is that in Auto mode the truck will normally drive around using the rear wheels and engage the transfer case via the clutches when slippage is detected. You can use 4A on dry pavement whereas for the standard 4H you shouldn't.
The main downside...
Maybe not completely. Heat soak is a thing and a handful of seconds at full throttle, which is what most engines will see at a time, won't heat soak the block or the turbo housings. How many people are running their engines at high or max load for minutes at a time then immediately shutting them...
The thing is that aircraft and car engines operate in very different ways. Cars vary their power load throughout different speed and acceleration regimes and spend very little time at maximum output. Aircraft engines operate at max power for several minutes during takeoff and initial climb then...
EIWE refers to the electric IWEs used in the '21+ trucks vs the vacuum-actuated ones used for a long time in the earlier trucks.
14th gen transfer cases come in 3 flavors:
- Electronic Shift-on-the-fly (ESOF): traditional mechanically-locking 4x4 used in the XL-XLT trims with 4H, 4L, and 2H
-...
Honest question because I don't know: Do modern diesel engines have turbo timers from the factory? Those trucks work their turbos a lot harder so I would imagine if the issues some people mention here were still a thing it would show up in those applications for sure.
I've owned a 3.5L truck of...
I got sucked in by Ford's Ecoboost Torture Test series and bought a 3.5L in 2011 pretty much the week they hit the lot, lol. Never had an issue with the drivetrain on that truck over 13 years of ownership and everything else I was able to fix in my driveway. Most of the sentiment I heard around...
From what I've read, the later '22+ Lariats and higher trims w/ the TOD transfer case don't come with EIWEs anymore. I haven't seen anyone here do a delete yet, but in theory it should be possible to swap in Lariat hubs (and maybe some supporting parts). You would almost certainly need to make...
On my the 3.5 PowerBoost, the engine is usually already off for a minute or so as I pull around the corner and into my driveway so I don't have much choice, lol.
I have had it happen on my truck 2 or 3 times over the year I've had it. I can't remember the exact details but usually happened when I pushed the start button without holding the brake, putting it into full power accessory mode (or whatever Ford calls key on, engine off in a push button start...
My understanding is that the '21+ trucks don't use vacuum-actuated IWEs, so it wouldn't be a vacuum-related problem. I learned through another thread here that when temps go below freezing, these trucks will engage the IWEs for the first couple miles of driving to exercise them or check to make...
On the original topic: Comparing my '24 XLT PB to the last new truck In bought, a 2011 XLT EB, the sticker price is about $14k higher adjusted for inflation. The new truck does have a lot more tech and options compared to that one being a super crew, 4wd, hybrid plus all the bells and whistles...
Probably a one-off case but there was a guy here who had the same issue and found out it was because his flywheel starter had a wire that was never connected at the factory.
I did it mainly for aesthetics. Ford didn't paint my wheel wells so the dark color of the Antimatter Blue contrasting with the grey-ish wheel wells was pretty bad.
