Has anyone ever experienced a situation where the ICE on your powerboost never shuts off? About a 20 mile drive. Relatively low speeds all under 50 with countless stop lights and stops signs. About 30 degrees outside. Heat on during first 25% of drive then off the rest. ICE ran continuously even while completely stopped. Even stayed on when truck was eventually put into park

When its really cold, it takes longer than usual but no, never had a trip near that long, without electric, ICE cycling.

Yes. I have seen this after an update before. It has also happened to my truck when my belt integrated starter generator was failing

Probably a one-off case but there was a guy here who had the same issue and found out it was because his flywheel starter had a wire that was never connected at the factory.

Mine has done this a couple times when it was really cold like sub 30's out. It took the truck a long time to finally enter EV mode. I suspect it was due to the HV battery temp being near freezing so the system prevented the ICE/EV switch to protect the battery. The truck will also keep the ICE running if the BMS/BCM detects that the 12v SOC is very low. It will run in full hybrid mode only until the 12v SOC is brought back up. Depending on the age of your truck's primary and aux 12v batteries the cold snap could have caused the SOC to dip down pretty low. Might not be a bad idea to put a charger on both 12v batteries for 4-5 hours then take it out and see what it does. You can also check for codes to see if it logged anything in the BCM or PCM.

yeah the only time I had that happen to me was when my LVB was too low and it was below 30F

It's happened to me before. I don't remember the atmospherics or battery or anything. The truck was being driven regularly and it happened.

When I power cycled the truck at my first stop (let's just say the grocery store) and it ran fine again.

These things are buggy...

I can definitely spot the southerner ("really cold" being sub 30s).

My truck uses electric mode less when it is cold for sure, but I still see plenty of electric miles even below 0 degrees. If the truck has a chance to warm up a bit, it'll usually kick to electric within the first few miles.

Happens occasionally on my truck. The other day, parked truck on. Truck just stopped cycling between ICE and battery and continued to run ICE only. Next start works normally.
🤷‍♂️

Rocket, how is the truck running today? I had this happen to me. The truck never went into the electric mode for 6 start/stop cycles. I checked the wire connection to the starter solenoid which was secure. Then the truck started working fine since. The electric mode that is. This occurred when the gearshift module was sending multiple faults powertrain faults.

I have not had a repeat since I created this post. Been driving the truck every day since. I continue to keep an eye on the powertrain behavior to see if it is happening again, and if so take note of the specific conditions.
