Put exhaust on it or straight pipe the muffler, you won't notice it ?

All kidding aside, I got the 5.0L to hear the rumble of the V8, exhaust mods were onenof the first things I did. Does my engine tick? Probably. Do I have that 10 spd whine..you betcha. But all I pay attention to now is the burble from the pipes.

I know, I know...not a problem solving solution, lol

I went through the drive through today next to a wall but I didn't hear a ticking like yours, just the whining of the transmission. It was 37-degrees out so maybe it was not using the direct injectors at that time, IDK. I would suggest getting a cheap automotive stethoscope and take off the nose piece and use it with the engine running to try and locate the source of the noise. if it is originating around the injectors like 24STX5.0 video shows then I would say it’s definitely the fuel injectors.

I couldn’t hear anything except the plane, but I also have a 2024 5.0 and it was making unexpected tinking/clinking noise from the engine or transmission area when warming up when new.
It was brand new so I drove the rest of the first 1,000 miles with the Auto Stop on Off, and either in Sport or Tow Mode ( to disable the cylinder deactivation).
My theory being to be certain all the valves and all the engine parts are rotating under stress during break in, and if it doesn’t go away then back to dealer.
1,500 miles now and it’s running quiet now on Normal Mode or in any Mode.
I also installed a 4D Tech Auto Stop disabler so I don’t have to worry about lack of lubrication/wear or oil overheating during frequent stop/start.

Thanks for the info. I’m at 3k miles now. What’s annoying is my old 2022 F150 sounded perfect.

Yeah, I get it. My 2013 ecoboost engine was smooth for over 140k when I sold it.
But I am liking the 5.0 now as it is breaking in, and no worries about turbo issues, coolant leaks, timing chains, cam phasers, etc etc
Good luck!

Well… For anyone who cares lol. The dealership found an exhaust leak behind the Kat. The pipe was warped inward and the clamp cannot seal on it. No more fluttering sound and the engine for some reason is a lot quieter now. Thanks again for everyone’s input. Never thought this would happen with a brand new truck from the factory lol.

Interesting! Glad you found the leak and solved the issue. Things like random noises are so irritating. Hopefully smooth sailing now for the next 200k miles

I understand especially on a new truck. My 2014 had what sounded like an exhaust leak. I chased it for a year even replacing the entire exhaust system including the manifolds, and in the end it was a plastic coolant fitting rattling on top of the plastic intake manifold that was the noise. ? I believe it happened when I paid a knuckle dragger who prob didn't care to change the spark plugs and of course something always gets broken or not put back as it was. ? The noise was driving me crazy and made the truck feel older than it is. After I tied it up off the intake manifold temporarily with zip ties the truck was as quiet as it was when new. ?

Could you post how it sounds now, for reference? I’m looking at trucks and curious if the one I’m looking at has this same issue or is normal.

Sorry for the delay… The engine is much more quieter now. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still loud under the hood, but I am not experiencing the clicking and clicking noise lol. Here’s a video of today with the sound ricocheting off the drive-through wall.
