10k miles, just flashed latest PCM and so far the shifts are 'invisibly smooth' under light throttle. xxL PCM software.

20,850 Miles on my 2022 Truck

3.5 Liter Engine/Hybrid

Transmission Fluid changed?
No.

Issues Encountered:
Persistent and harsh 1-3 shift skip (especially when trans was cold) that would also happen in sport and tow modes. Basically all but refused to use 2nd gear. Resetting adaptive tables would sometimes help but would always return after about 500-1K miles. Frequent harsh downshifts from 5-4. PCM was updated at 15K by dealer which resolved both of these. Both up/down shifts are very smooth to the point where they are imperceptible most of the time and rarely skips 2nd. Sometimes it will try to gently edge forward 5-10 seconds after coming to a stop and has done this since new but pressing slightly harder on the brake when stopped handles this.

7,200 Miles on my 2024 Truck

5.0-Liter Engine

Transmission Fluid changed?
No, too early.

Issues Encountered:
In normal mode the 1-3 shift sometimes has a weird hesitation under light throttle like power is temporarily cut to engine and then once it makes the 1-3 shift it accelerates smoothly. Only one time has this transmission made a very loud clunk. Other than this it has been smooth and shifts fine.

My 2014 F-150 RCLB with 6-speed has been trouble free for 227k miles so hoping that 10-speed is as reliable as my 6-speed was to at least 100k.

I have had this trans in a 2018, 2021 and now a 2023, maybe 120000 miles total, all 2.7, no fluid changes, and not one problem with any of them, could not ask for a smoother trans.

No issues, seems smoother after a reset of the tables. Barely know it is shifting.

My 2017 3.5 eco with 65k would accelerate to get from 1 to 3 and then there was a harsh shift from 3 to 4 (to close together?) when it would not skip. 5 and up was smooth.
No fluid change.

Looks like it is hit and miss with 10 speeds. Our 2020 explorer had a harsh downshift from 7 to 6, replaced under warranty and whined while coasting ever since.

Transmission Fluid changed?
Yes @ __ miles
No.

Issues Encountered:
-
15,500 mile on 2023

Powerboost

Fluid change - no. Checked to verify fill level - yes.

Issues:

Just rough shifts. Clunky 3-4-5 is very common. 6-5 downshift clunk if coasting (steady increasing brake or slight gas it will be smooth). On/Off throttle about 60mph in 10th gear will always clunk the driveline.

Have had it looked at 2x. First time was a software update. Maybe a very minor improvement. Again a couple months ago. Tech reset the tables and it was acting great for maybe a week. But eventually came back. We drove around together with his computer attached looking at all the computer values and zero red flags. He said these things can learn bad habits unfortunately but everything computer-wise the transmission is acting perfectly.

I wish it would just shift like when the tables get reset. Over time the clunkiness comes back.

Really I'd say, outside a few minor things on the truck... its the only true thing I DISLIKE on it. Its just always making its presence known. If Ford would finally fix this silly thing I feel the truck would be superb. Sure the RAM rides better but the F150 is better at truck duties. I just cannot for the life of me figure out how we're going on 7-8 years of the 10 speed and it STILL isn't ironed out and operating as it should. I've never had any car anywhere near this clunky to drive.

It amazes me how few miles so many drive, and how many problems are showing up in so few miles. We will see for ourselves, but the feedback is not exactly confidence inspiring.

Mine did a few mild clunks today from I think the 6 to 5 downshift. Not sure what that was about but hopefully its just the quirky nature of a 10–speed. I do have a powertrain warranty up to 150k from the dealer.

2021 PB Platinum, max tow, early build one. Bought from dealership w 14k mi, but not CPO. Trans problems start immediately, in shop 5 months of first 11 for same. Finally improved with software reprogram but still bad shifts rough acceleration from stop. Opened trans at 50k to look for metal and clutch material, unbelievably clean. Several resets and still rough part of the time. 108k hybrid drivetrain clutch fails, disables truck in intersection. New assembly 8k installed. no warranty coverage. Truck is great except for POS trans Ford should have changed under warranty.

23 XLT 5.0 30K miles. No fluid change yet, expect to change at 40K. The only issue is the occasional hard down shift. Tow a 22 foot center console boat 3 to 4 times a month transmission is perfect in tow/haul mode.
