Supertech Advanced Full Synthetic, and I'm not ashamed.
Switched to that on my old truck after years of Motorcraft. Better test results with more additives still there protecting than the Motorcraft at same mileage. Your oil may vary. :)

Good info on the Pennzoil Ultra Platinum. Use it in my Explorer. I'm looking at a jug of it now because I use it in my 2.3 liter. Ford oil specs on it are WSS-M2C946-B1. The PUP meets that spec but doesn't meet the 2023 2.7 liter specs which are WSS-M2C961-A1

I'm about to perform the first oil change

I would like to use full synthetic even though I will be servicing every 5,000 miles. I do not like the recommended 10K.

.
I thought the first oil change was suppose to be at 1000 miles?

Pennzoil Ultra Platinum from Amazon site says this for the specs:
Meets or exceeds the following OEM requirements: Chrysler MS-6395; Ford WSS-M2C960-B1 and WSS-M2C960-A1

I am using it in my '22 Powerboost.

On all of my new vehicles I changed the oil at 500 miles then every 1,000 miles for the next to changes then every 5,000. I am paranoid over oils after I saw a video decades ago on metal shavings retrieved using a magnet in the bucket of used oil. Granted technology is improved over those days. They make magnetic drain plugs to gather shavings for those at home oil changers.

Motorcraft synthetic oil and filters are actually pretty good products, imo. After that, I would lean more towards Valvoline simply because I love their VR1 in my old Galaxie.

But if you are so concerned about it, I would get a high quality, brand-name oil that meets our specs and not worry about cost. A good filter is a more important decision, imo.

Negative, not recommended, but some do it because they feel the desire.
There is more wear during the first thousand miles than the next fifty thousand as the new parts wear in. It is best to remove the metal from the early wear in period. The manufacturers no longer have 100 thousand mile warranty on the engines.

Yes! Because you have to get rid of the giant metal shavings left over from the crude manufacturing process!

Oh, wait. Never mind, that’s improved now. ?

Both engines and motor oil changed radically in 2017 and any oil that meets the SAE specification is a good as any other. One can pay more for something like Amsoil that is more heavily advertised but not any better, or in the case of their diesel motor oil, one of the worst one can use. Ford recommends a synthetic blend and their engineers know far more than the average guy with a pickup.

Oil life with a gas engine is in part determined by hours of engine operation of which miles driven is a poor indicator. Someone who drive 60 miles each day on the highway at 6,000 mile may have only 1000 hours on the engine as compared to someone who drives around town making many short trips or spends a lot of time driving offroad.

The engine computer should be calculating oil life based on the actual manner in which the truck is being driven by the owner.

I'm not getting sucked into an oil thread. How about you @Snakebitten ? Any SP rated oil will be fine. Some are better than others.
