2024 Paint - All Orange Peel

It doesn’t need a full respray, it can be smoothed with 800/1000 grit then recleared. Probably $3-4K.

While wet sanding or even some glazing polish can smooth it out, there's no way to know how thin the clear coat is. With as bad as it looks I'm betting it's only got 1-2 coats of clear on it and could quickly buff through that. It'd almost be worth it to have it prepped for a few extra coats of clear first.

On a metallic in a in-and-out network shop? Only a desperate shop needing work would attempt to blend that out, any reputable shop wouldn’t risk their rep on that unless they could reshoot it all. I could see on a single or 2-stage but with this, if not done right, it will be evident long term that work was done.

oh HELL NO! not to mention thats Rapid Red so it already cost a premium for that paint.
I know i'm not in your situation and i could imagine after the wait how hard it would be to walk away...but i think i'd have to walk away.

The dealer will probably tell you they have a guy that can fix it...um, NO!
Unless you're in a bind, I'd make another order.

All 9 of the 2024 F150s on the lot look the same.

Anyone else with a 2024 have similar paint?

The hood on mine is very smooth. Other parts of the truck varies from almost no orange peel, to some noticable orange peel. Probably the most pronounced is on the RH front fender, and I wouldn't consider it not acceptable. Also, I haven't washed or waxed the truck since picking it up on the 6th. Attached is a pic of the hood and the RH front fender.

Consider resale down the road as well, I can’t imagine many folks would even believe you if you were to say it came that way.

I actually like orange peel, reminds me of a nice powder coating job. My truck is smooth, but I probably wouldn’t have minded orange peel if it had it

As can be seen in every picture posted in this thread, there is some level of orange peel on F-150s. Again, these aren't Rolls Royces. Jeeves isn't hand correcting 23 layers of primer, base, and clear on these in Dearborn or KC. They just dip em, spray em, and bake em and send them on their way. An occasional dud is going to roll off the line. You'd think QC would catch it. Inspect and keep your wallet in your pocket if you ordered that one.

My '24 looks okay for now. There is some on the rear quarters where the 4x4 stickers were, and I only really noticed it when I got up close to remove them.

Yours is something they should not have let leave the factory, though. That's a quality control issue.
