Try taking off the rubber bump stops on each end of the top of the bed where the tailgate touches(try closing then). Try closing the tailgate manually by hand and feel for any binding. Make sure the support cables on each end aren't pinching when trying to close.

Issue fixed... Changed it out with the newer lower shaft from a 2024+ Raptor. RL3Z-3B676-A

I have wrapped it with that link I posted. It helped but not 100%(maybe 98%). In this case I'm 99.99% sure its the lower shaft due to the fact that I tested it with heat when I removed the shaft.

I went by my local dealer today and popped open the hood on a 2024 F150 Raptor to check the lower steering shaft (2024 PN# RL3Z-3B676-A). I see that Ford added a rubber boot around the shaft for heat. Looks like the same shaft with an added boot around it. Why the change??? Seems obvious...

Here is the new (second replacement updated part# NL3Z-3B676-B) lower shaft after driving it home from the dealer (hot). You can see the grease where the yellow rubber is sliding on the shaft. Still thumping...

Update: The updated part number was installed. We did a side by side comparison before the swap and they were both are identical. The only difference was the updated lower shaft had grease where they slide into each other and mine was dry. After driving around and testing the updated shaft it...

My 23 Raptor is loose also. My two other buddies one with a 23 raptor and one with a 21 raptor both are loose.

Mine was sticking when up in the right turn signal use. It was so hard to push down at times where it would feel like I was going to break it. Ford replaced it and even the replacement they said was sticking. I have not replaced it again (yet) because It's working better than the first one.
