If they replace max tows with regular axles it would totally derate our trucks and the reason why we purchased them.
For a 2022 PowerBoost I think max tow is 12,700 vs 11,200 for my wee 9.75” 3.73 e-locker.
I think payload is the limiting factor more than the axle.

The right side went out first and they repaired it. Then the left side went out. Both identical symptoms. The bolt shears off and falls inside the rim and it sounds like you are dragging a chain at low speeds. Then the right side failed again and was repaired. Then see the attached pic. After seeing that, I took it to the dealer again and they said the right side was bad again and replaced both axles. 5 new axles in total.

Those are numbers to be proud of! All these other rookies need to step up their game and meet this new high score!

I think the axle rating plays a major role in determining payload.

GVWR is made up by legal and is arbitrarily changed with their magic wand. Stick to the axle ratings. and you'll be alright, especially in the PBs. I've seen well over a ton in the back of PB w/ bags keeping it happy.

Going just by the axles my payload increases to 2,174lbs. from 1,624lbs.

2022 non max tow PB.

It's a moving bar plus ford bot, still have some parts to swap back in, others to change entirely. Got a few things going through paint right now as well.

At the rate Ford is responding to this known issue, we might eventually have to file a class-action suit against them in order to get their attention and get them to either fix the problem, replace the rear-end, or the trucks.

At the rate?

They repair the vehicles that shear a bolt at the highest rate possible. Like 100%

Have you sheared a bolt and not received the axle/hub replacement?

The problem is, apparently the bolt then often proceeds to shear again...and again.

We have no legitimate statistics to know if/when a sheared bolt repair fails a first, second, or more times.

Anecdotally we can at least see that the sheared bolt appears to have overwhelmingly been a certain batch/era of the trucks, rather than all of them.
We also can see, at least anecdotally, the frequency has dropped to a trickle.
And finally, again anecdotally, only a small percentage of trucks report multiple repairs necessary and they may very well have received a different batch on the first repair than they did subsequently.

I'm not intending to let Ford off the hook for addressing the issue. But at this point they haven't ignored or denied the problem, nor dragged their feet getting a customer's truck back on the road.

The trucks are the subject of a reall. The underlying issue is not being addressed. Ford admits it does not yet have a permanant fix for the problem. They are simply doing "Band-Aid" fixes. Do they really not have a fix, or they don't have a cheap fix since there are thousands of these trucks on the road with the exact same problem?

That's just my point.

The "underlying issue" has obviously been addressed. The recall itself, and Ford's unwillingness to openly communicate, aren't the same thing as the underlying issue. The actual sheared bolt.
