I believe you that the dealer made a mistake and that the truck your ordered was sold to someone else. Mistakes are made and things happen in all facets of business. Maybe it wasn't a mistake....maybe they sold it on purpose to another buyer for well over MSRP since they couldn't do that to you since yours was an order.

However, you should have never bought the truck you bought if that was the case. I don't think you are going to get the help you need here. If you feel that you were wronged, then you need to contact an a lawyer. Auto loan contracts and buyer's orders with dealer have a clause where any disputes will have to go through arbitration to find a solution before it can be taken to court. If this is something you want to pursue, be ready for a long legal and possibly expensive legal process.
I just want to thank you for being an amazing person. Very few people would take the time to help someone as much as you have, especially a stranger on the internet.

The original poster is obviously going through a lot. You for sure earned some good karma helping out.

That's rugedraw.
He's seemingly tireless too.
Will answer the same question 100 times and the 100th time was as gracious as the first.

I hope he's blushing now. ?

Mess of a thread. Still not sure if this is all BS.

You got screwed.
Lesson learned.
Watch very carefully what you sign and read it all even if it takes you all day.

Nothing we can do about it and most likely lawyer will tell you the same, but you can find one to consult on this mess. As rugedraw who works in the business mentioned, you usually sign something about arbitration when you buy. You'll be in for a long legal process to try disputing it all.

It does make sense if you were upside down on your Cadillac your remaining balance would roll into a new loan so you could be paying off the Cadillac PLUS an STX.

There's gotta be another fold to this though. Let's assume he didn't get 14~k trade in for the Cadillac on which 16~k was owed and the dealer paid it off the note and tacked that on to the contract as negative equity...add taxes, title and let's also assume an less than favorable interest rate...could easily add up to the 74k. The confusion about the loaner truck has me baffled though.

Not sure. Sounds like OP sent him documents via DM. Odd situation for sure.
He did, because I asked him to send it that way if he preferred to avoid posting all his info here for the world to see.

There is no doubt in my mind that something out of the norm happened when he bought that truck. I can't figure it out with what he sent me and what he's saying, because even he doesn't know what's going on. Based on my private interaction with him, this thread is legit.

@Lyss145 I'll talk to you over the phone tomorrow if you want. Personally, I think you just f*cked up on this transaction. Probably a combo of you being naive and you dealt with a salesman looking out for himself and not a sales consultant looking to develop a relationship. As someone who sells cats for a living, who you buy a vehicle from makes a difference.

100% this. I actually had a GOOD experience driving two hours from home to buy my used truck this year. Far better than the mess of a transaction I had back in 2011. Helps being older and wiser but the sales guy was cool. He left an engineering job to be a car salesman and loves his job. It shows. The finance dude tried to sell me some BS non-Ford warranty but outside that left all the other BS out of it. Really shows that the high volume giant dealers aren't always the best. Definitely going to look at another small dealer for my next purchase (hopefully not before 10 years out).

I was driving home in a very bad blizzard here in Colorado it was very icy and hard to see a car pulled right out in front of me and I went to hit my brakes an the brakes wouldn’t worked so I released and pressed again and there was no resistance the brake just gave in and would just pump I reached for the emergency brake and right before I pulled the brake my chevy at the time I had smashed right into this concrete barrier, my air bags didn’t deploy and I smashed my face and head into the windshield and I was alone no one to help I awoke and found myself still in the driver seat , I called my buddy who came and brought me home and from then moment on the only thing I remember was waking up a week later and not having any memory of anything I’m slowly gaining my memory back looking through all my business paperwork and files and this is how I found out
Instead of calling 911 he called his buddy? Op seems to have a history of making bad decisions as well as memory loss, which if true then this whole situation seems completely plausible.

HA! Good on you.

With that said if you have no cats maybe a good trunk monkey would do?

This has been quite a read, if I'm understanding this correctly, OP was sold an STX for $74k, it sounds like $16k of that was a payoff amount on the Cadillac. Even still, max STX MSRP price is what, $48k?

Maybe there is a Tremor on the way that was $74k, if not and OP was mislead, where is the additional $10k coming from, ADM fees?

Two lessons here:

1. Research your dealer extensively, almost all dealerships have reviews on cars.com and google reviews, a short read of some of the feedback that isn't service department related on cars.com means I wouldn't even consider contacting this dealership, assuming this is the same one you bought from: Alpine Ford in Pueblo, CO

2. Always always read the paperwork, ask for clarifications if you don't understand something, if something doesn't make sense and they can't clearly explain it, don't sign.

It's safe to say there are dealerships that are out there doing underhanded things.

It is also safe to say there will continue to be dealerships like that and more will appear if people continue to do business with those dealerships.
