I'm about to perform the first oil change on my '23 5.0L at 5,000 miles myself and was wandering if I used anything other than Motorcraft Synthetic Blend, would it effect my warranty?

I would like to use full synthetic even though I will be servicing every 5,000 miles. I do not like the recommended 10K.

Wandering what brand would be best? I've always had older vehicles (first new truck I've owned in YEARS) and serviced them at 5,000 miles and I always used conventional Castrol.

I know the manual calls for 5W-30 with specification WSS-M2C961-A1.

Thanks for any input, suggestions or opinions.

Valvoline Extended Protection or Valvoline Restore & Protect. If you want to go a bit cheaper but still excellent, go with Quaker State Ultimate Protection. All 3 meet Ford specs and all three are excellent oils for a good price.

As to your warranty, using any good label oil will not violate it. ...And recall that thse brands certify that they meet OEM Specs, so if there's an issue you can assert you relied on their advertising. I'm partial to AmsOil.

Lots of 5w-30’s meet the Ford spec. Choose a full synthetic that has it marked and meets your budget. I’ve used Mobil 1 Truck because it’s a good oil, was on sale and I only need a big jug and a little to do the 6 quarts for my 3.5. All the big labels are decent oils and if you’re doing 5k changes you won’t have issues . Talking oils is a HUGE rabbit hole to fall into lol

Understand the HUGE rabbit hole this can be, but being new to these fancy vehicles that has more whistles than I will ever blow and me being the type that keeps a vehicle 'till repairs start continuing or wheels fall off, there has been a LOT of things that has changed that I'm not familiar with.

I'm thankful though for all the comments and opinions.

I'm that type of person that tends to overthink things (per my wife) and do more research than some.

Thanks again everyone. Keep'm coming

I prefer Pennzoil Ultra Platinum. That Is what I used for my first oil change and I will continue to use it going forward.
I also will be using Pennzoil Ultra Platinum for my first oil change.

Pennzoil ULTRA Platinum (not to be confused with Pennzoil platinum) and Wix XP oil filter. Change every 5k, especially if you use e85. If the truck wants you to change it sooner, reset the oil life and just use the truck normally until the 5k is up.

I'm tuned so my rpm limit is higher than stock, full time e85, race my truck once in a while, and may have a hit or few just about every time I drive it. So to me, 5k interval seems to make sense for my style of driving. If you want shorter oil change intervals, or change the oil whenever prompted on the dash, or longer intervals of 7500 or even 10,000 miles (I believe there's Amsoil users here who do this), that's your prerogative. It's your truck and no one should give a fuck what you do except the next buyer.

That's what went in mine when I did the break-in change (and will continue to go in every 5,000 miles).

Yup. PUP 5W30 only meets Ford WSS-M2C929-A and WSS-M2C946-A specifications according to their website. It's a great oil, but Ford could deny an engine claim based on its usage. You'd need receipts for a spec-approved oil to be sure of warranty coverage.

That’s what I do. Motorcraft full synthetic and filter every 5k.

I do not disagree, however, it has proved to be superior to the recommended oil in multiple tests. As always, to each their own.
