Hello Everyone, I am entering my 8th month with my 2023 Ford F-150 Lariat Powerboost and once again finding myself regretting this purchase. After spending 3 weeks at a dealership getting a new starter, alternator, and misc exhaust pieces replaced due to screeching sounds I find myself having to schedule another service appointment because Ford clearly doesnt care about quality control or the customer. I once again am getting low battery errors less than a month after being told all issues have been fixed. FordPass App features no longer work because of these low battery issues, i cant roll up my driver window without it rolling itself down on its own, i keep getting random trailer break failure messages (WHICH THEY SAID WAS FIXED) and am just sick of the experience i am getting in a truck that has less than 5K Miles. Sorry for the long rant but after such a shitty experience i dont think i will ever purchase a Ford product again.
Sorry to hear about your PB issues....I'm entering my 9th month with my '23 Lariat PB and absolutely love it, in fact I can't wait to drive it everyday. At around 6K miles (August 23) I had three start issues with the battery I presume. 'Knock on wood' I haven't had any issue since, truck has worked flawlessly (17,400mi currently) and I although haven't replaced the battery, yet, I have installed a battery monitor on it that I can check with my phone.

However, I'm with everyone else on the thread that if the battery goes, or I have electrical issues, I'll just pony up the money and get a quality, non-ford battery. Cheer and good luck.

OP,
So sorry to hear about your experience. I have a 21 F150 Powerboost and had similar issues. After 4 tows into the dealership we finally found a root cause. The battery junction box (right under all the fuses on the passenger side under the hood) was not sealed and was wrecking havoc on everything electronic connected to it (transmission, trailer brake faults, etc. ). We eventually had a fuse in that box melt through the box and into the wiring harness. There was lots of water corrosion in the box. Since we fixed that the truck has been golden.
Don’t know if you’ve got the same issue, but certainly worth checking.

They are gonna rubber-stamp "certifications" faster than teachers handing out A's to maintain Federal and State monies!!
No one can spell their own name or count change but they all grad with 4.0's.
No no no…..I’m sure the dealers will put more stock in having well trained techs and satisfied customers than they will their bottom line/getting reimbursed from Ford for warranty work/TSB’s/recalls. And Ford started this mess during Covid!

The decisions on the corporate management level with this company are really something. I really like my truck, it has given me zero shit that I can’t resolve myself/with the help of this forum……and it’s my favorite in a long line of vehicles I’ve owned, but for phuck’s sake……facepalm……execs at the helm are humping doorknobs and eating crayons!!!!

You must have better luck than I at dealerships... Historically (for me), car dealerships would sell their Mother to make a buck. I cant see them paying their staff to get certified in anything quickly, then they got cars already stacked up in the service lot waiting on repairs.

Just look at how much they are arguing and not willing to test or replace a flippin' battery!?!

Counting change for these kids nowadays blows my mind! I can't even tell you how many times I've gone to like a fast food joint, pay for a meal and they stand there all confused trying to figure out how much change to give back. The register literally tells them how much change to give back but they stand and stare like they are trying to read a foreign language! Anyway that's why I use my debit card for like 99% of all purchases now, they don't have to worry about counting change.

I thought my sarcasm was obvious! Hahhahaha……I am on the same wavelength my man! This will only make things worse!

24k on my 2022 and it has never seen the dealer for anything! I’m not willing to try my luck with these hacks! I’ll fix it myself or limp it in to trade it first!

Im right there with you, with about 22k on my '22. I had to go get my axles replaced from a broken bolt and had them do the ziptie thing on my ebrake wire. Now I have a tire that deflates every 3-5 days and they cant find why, and they swear it was nothing they did....

i should buy my own battery and have them compensate me for it. I never once had a problem with my Ram trucks. First ever Ford and here we are lol
Ram trucks are flawless and PowerBoost alternators are notorious. I’d have them swap it again

It’s industry wide. I’m a Toyota guy, brand loyalist so to speak, particularly because they are reliable and easy to work on. I bought several new, and never once used “ToyotaCare” their “free” maintenance plan. User beware. Plenty of horror stories on the Toyota forums from those who trusted the dealership to do them right with their vehicles.

I bought this Ford because I was bored with Toyota. I knew they led in recalls, but was aware of how many trucks they build each day and knew it was a safe bet I’d be a happy owner, just by how much I liked it and the law of averages. They make a great product, no doubt, but it can come at a big cost if something is amiss and you’re the unlucky owner of one with gremlins.

The dealer tech level of expertise for any carmaker is really low compared to the engineering level of expertise that’s required to design and build it. The gap is huge, and I feel like Ford leads the way in that regard. And the techs are already not being compensated fairly. It’s not really a sustainable model for doing things. The customer/owner pays the biggest price because shit runs downhill.

That said, this is the first vehicle I’ve ever owned that I bought an extended warranty for. I want to keep my truck a while. I hope I don’t have to take it to a dealer for repair, but it frankly scares me to trust them with fixing it correctly AND paying for it as though they will. I spent the two grand to only worry about one of those possibilities.

Ford really needs to right the ship.
And accept that it will cost them big money. Giving ultimatums from the bottom up is such a dumbass, pompous corporate way of making a bad problem worse!

My 2023 Limited F-150 is the very first new vehicle, out of many that I have purchased, that I had to replace the battery within the first 3 months on my own dime (dealer said it was fine... NOT). First new vehicle I had to reseat all fuses to (somewhat) alleviate random DTCs and errors. First new vehicle that random Trailer Error messages pop with no trailer attached just because it is raining (and dealer cannot replicate). First new vehicle that required periodic relearning of window bounce back.

I just want an "old style" vehicle... get in, drive, change oil every 5k miles, definitely don't have random electrical gremlins for the sake of technology that doesn't work.

I, too, use my credit card on almost purchases. Don't have to carry much real money that way. However, I'm beginning to see a trend with CC purchases. Businesses are beginning to add a surcharge to cover the credit card fee that business have to pay to the CC company.

The Ford dealers I frequent are adding a surcharge to credit card payments.

credit card surcharges are generally a violation of the company’s agreement with the credit card company. If the card company finds out, the business could be blocked from using credit cards as a method of payment.

Indeed. CC surcharges are a violation of the merchant agreement. There should be strict enforcement of this policy punishing anyone wanting to accept CCs, but not the cost of doing business. I put as much as I can on reward CCs and pay them off automatically in full every 2 weeks.
