Trying to help out a local guy here and I've looked and looked and looked, now have a headache?

Would some kind person please remind me which SYNC version and rev. is the one that gets stuck and, when fixing via FDRS, needs the USB stick left in for potentially a month? I promise to write it down for the future ?
There's not an exclusive version. Only 2021 trucks need special attention getting out of update purgatory. Leaving the USB in is just the last ditch effort.

Is the PSCM update related to the new IPMA update for the 21's? It wasn't there a couple of weeks ago.

Sunday football kind of update. I gain nothing from it though since I don't have Bluecruise. I love how 1.3 whatever it is fixed the annoying weave in adaptive cruise though. It is like a whole new truck.
Pro tip: don't do updates on Sundays. FDRS is notorious for Sunday outages.

Doing the latest APIM update using FDRS and plugged in the USB to the truck when it told me to with the files on it. USB stick had been in the truck for 17 mins with the truck running and nothing had happened yet…… any idea what the problem could be?

If the USB stick has worked in the truck before, just leave it be and forget about it until it installs.

Yes it’s the same stick I used to update the truck a couple months ago. I cleared and reformatted the USB stick. Is it a bad idea to try and turn the turn off and then start it back up?
If the "Do not remove USB" message has not appeared, I have removed the usb and reinserted it and the update started like it should have.

Nothing has appeared on the screen like they normally would. Nothing at the top left showing what’s happening either.

I've never formatted my stick across 2-3 dozen updates across numerous vehicles. I go to the drive, trash its contents and continue on. Just leave it in there and forget about it until it completes one day. Do verify it's got the files on it first. Also helps to reset the APIM holding vol down and track forward on the steering wheel until it goes black and reboots.

Is it okay to reboot it while the stick is in the truck? Also is it the track on the steering wheel or below the volume button

Yes, so long as it's not saying it's updating.

That's really good to know! I read somewhere in one of the Installation Guides that they want you to reformat the USB after every update - and I suspect that @NickT_ was just following those same instructions. I thought all along that that would be a time consuming step, so it's great to learn that it's not actually necessary. Perhaps the purpose of reformatting is to ensure that ALL files are removed? ?‍♂

There could be hidden files that your computer doesn't show when you click on the drive and delete it.
