All I know is that he has been tenacious!
By starting with a 2021 this late in the game, he just installed the most updates in the shortest time span yet.

He is no longer driving the same truck he had just a couple of days ago.
A real update marathon for sure.
I thought it was bad with mine but I at least had 1.x updates until the first IPC update then it was forever stuck. I had ordered cable and laptop the weekend I brought truck home and updated it 7 days into ownership. ?

  1. 900am - Getting setup. Downloading, installing stuff for the Mongoose cable and FDRS. Spend at least 30 minutes fighting with the damned Windows Firewall...
  2. 953am - First successful test - Network scan run.
  3. <many, many, many hours later>
  4. 1030pm - 32nd update of the day and 4th GWM Software Update of the day completes...
I see a bit more clearly now why dealers don't want to mess with this at all. Even though I only had one failed update all day it's still pretty much a big time sink (USB error and simple restart worked the 2nd time around). I was in the truck pretty much all day babysitting and I just don't see them doing that so it's going to take them even longer.

Super stoked about the progress so far though. After the final GWM update tonight, another APIM update appeared, but seems like I'm getting pretty close. All the way up to version 22293 rev 610 now. I still don't see where the other format some of y'all have are reported (something like 1.x.y) - where is that info?
When I'm doing updates, my truck sits in the driveway. I use VNC to remote into the laptop and watch the progress from inside. And I have a wifi camera that I setup to watch the sync display when doing APIM updates. That way I'm not stuck sitting in the truck for hours.

Truck is right outside I just binge watch some TV show and go check on it every 30 minutes or so. I know I'll have another IPC update coming at some point. Have to find another TV show to binge that day for the slow CAN process. ?

So you were able to FDRS past the broken APIM versions?
If this was a question to me, the answer is that I literally have no idea. Jesse had provided an offline update for both the GWM and APIM before I started FDRS locally. I am presently blissfully ignorant of any broken APIM stuff :ROFLMAO:.

Makes perfert sense and now that I know what to expect is probably how I would do it in the future... I just wanted to be done with it this weekend.

His case was a little different from most trucks stuck on Sync 20301. His auto-updates button was not grayed out, which makes getting out of Sync 20301 easier.

Ah, so wasn't fully broken then. :)

You can buy win pro keys for $6 which allows you to RDP into a machine so you can control the other one from your couch. You can RDP w/ tablets as well, smartphones too but tiny screen for a desktop can be hell. That keeps the session local vs other remote control clients that typically pass traffic to the internet and back.

Unfortunately you can't key cycle remotely. There's a clear disconnect between users and those who use the product. Ford should make each engineer that work on FDRS do a full vehicle update suite and it'd change pretty quick.

11 more updates down and looks like that is all for now.

1. Is there to confirm this other than FDRS? I’ve seen several of you mention to folks they have more updates coming.

2. Anything else I should do while I have the cable and the FDRS license? (I have the cheap ODB cable and can do FORscan so that’s not an issue)…

Some here report updates show up later. Check it again if nothing there you are all set with the lastest. You should eventually get an OTA and you'll see how the process is supposed to work. Took few months for me to get an OTA after FDRS but I know it works now.

If you have any issues with 360 cameras or the adaptive cruise bouncing off lane makers there are calibration for that in FDRS too.

Just ran my truck through FDRS. I have ABS, DDM and PDM updates showing that weren't there before. No big deal, IMO, but just FYI for all the people that must have the latest of everything to check to see if you have them, too.

Just double-checked -- I actually started from 20312 so maybe that was enough of a difference to avoid the issue.

Idk why some trucks say 20312, but when I checked it, PTS said 20301. I have checked others trucks that also said 20312 on the touchscreen and PTS showed 20301.

Either way: Welcome to the truck you paid for.

Keep in mind sometimes after a bunch of updates you need to re-run network scan option a few times to get the truck synced up with the server so it's showing the latest updates. If you have an update that's completed but won't go away, deleting the vehicle from FDRS with the envelope icon will also get it back up to speed.

Did the ACM & DSP first and all went well, but about immediately regretted doing them that as right after I started hearing the speaker pop noise when opening a door or after the truck fully shuts down.
FYI I back dated my ACM and DSP to the version it was previously on with some help from @Jesse-Infotainment on the getting the right files, and now everything is back to normal, chimes coming through the speakers and no more pop noise that I've heard since. I think Ford has yet another issue with both of these new versions for some reason.
