Considering the keypad has been around for 45 years I'm pretty sure at least some Ludites like to use them. Maybe even most. Those of you that don't like the keypad, or don't use them, are what are called "ludites".
I did some investigation just now. I use a topdon smart scanner. I called them and learned that I can get a subscription to autoauth. It's a secure gateway license that allows us to access Chrysler and dodge.Yeah, I dunno about all that. All I addressed was the ability to pull codes.
I haven't carried a car key in 10 years. It stays in the truck and car. Unlock with the keypad, lock by pushing the two bottom buttons simultaneously. Never have to look for a key, keep up with a key, store and find a key while traveling by air for 2 weeks. My pockets have too much in them already - phone in one, pocketknife, small tape measure, change in the other. To each their own… I think the keypads are super tacky and are the only thing I don’t like on the side of my 85k truck. I searched far and wide for a model without one, had to settle for it. My keys are always on me, the convenience is a myth in my existence.
I don't think you read his post correctly. He said he's NOT going anywhere.Bye.
It's not. It can still be ordered with a new truck or added.Really a shame if the keypad is gone for good.
This keypad's last year was 2024. Only the adhesive wireless version, see prior post. It's not. It can still be ordered with a new truck or added.
From his post- "If Ford drops the keypad, it will free me to buy another brand."I don't think you read his post correctly. He said he's NOT going anywhere.
That's a shitty reply. Why is it when someone complains about what ford is doing, some get all uppity like ford can't do wrong? They act like someone said their baby is ugly. This is the number one site to post our gripes.Bye.
Ford does not care obviously. You're screaming into the void. That was the best way I could sum that up at that moment. That's a shitty reply. Why is it when someone complains about what ford is doing, some get all uppity like ford can't do wrong? They act like someone said their baby is ugly. This is the number one site to post our gripes.
Ya all go buy a base model and think we should just be happy with the deletions from 80k+ trucks.
The keypad that we now have to pay for is 250.00! And its a crappy battery powered stick on that looks cheesy. What happens when the battery goes dead in 20 below temps? Will it ice up? Will it wear out? In all my dozen trucks with ford's oem keypad I never once had issues with it.
Its a message from ford that they don't think we care about value.
If you don't like our complaints then move on to the next thread. Noone is forcing you to respond.
Crap! I need to reread his post! Lol. Been a long day! From his post- "If Ford drops the keypad, it will free me to buy another brand."
I’m the same as you. I’ve also started using the app to start my truck when I’m still in my office where my key fob won’t reach for the winter. Nice to know my truck is nice and toasty when I get in it. And no more worrying about the windshield being frosted. My Key stays in my truck 100% of the time. I don't carry keys at all because of it. I'm beginning to use the Ford App more and more now that there's buttons in the phone's control center but 95% of the time I use the keypad.
