I'm torn. I have the door keypad, and it is useful, however I have yet to use it on this truck. Probably just because I haven't memorized the code yet. But I do like the idea of being able to hide the other one somewhere, like in the gas filler door. Of course thats been discussed enough that its probably no longer a "hiding" spot.

I'm upset they took my rain sensing wipers away, and gave me back auto start stop...but I know those are pretty easy fixes all things considered.
An easy way to remember your five digit keypad code is start with a number of your choice, then use the last two numbers of your birthday and the last two numbers of your spouses birthday. Another way to remember passwords is to use the first letter of each word in a phrase. I've been doing this for years and have never forgoten a password or been locked out of my truck.

If your tag has numbers, just make your tag the combo or the last 5 of the VIN which is conveniently written on the dash.

Back in the day, we were taught to use "All People Seem To Need Data Processing" to remember the 7 layers of the OSI model.

I am not nostalgic for the "good ole days".

Tires were shit, seats were shit, suspensions were shit, if you had a wreck, the steering column went through your chest. All that and 11mpg.
Gas also cost .50/gallon. I would imagine there's not a lot of difference between .50/gallon and 11 mpg and 3.50/gallon and 18mpg in terms of money spent relative to the value of the dollar.

I tell my friends that Ford would have to make pretty crap vehicles before I would buy something else that didn't have the entry keypad. Those of you that don't like the keypad, or don't use them, are what are called "ludites". If Ford drops the keypad, it will free me to buy another brand. This new cheap version is extremely disappointing. You know, you could do the same thing as the keypad with a very expensive "OnStar" subscription from GM. But why? And actually, it isn't nearly as good. The very first (original) poster nailed it - this is an incredibly stupid decision by Ford. Stupid. Maddening. Brand-loyalty destroying.
All of you negative types can save your comments. They are worthless and meaningless - to me.

To each their own… I think the keypads are super tacky and are the only thing I don’t like on the side of my 85k truck. I searched far and wide for a model without one, had to settle for it. My keys are always on me, the convenience is a myth in my existence.

Your one guy that holds the key.
I have 6 people that need access to 5 trucks. Do the math. I would need 30 fobs.
Trucks are in dead zones for ford pass often. I have never had to drive 40 Miles to unlock a truck because one of my employees lock the keys in the truck.
Couple of my trucks I need to idle for external power. It's easy to leave the key in it and lock it up while it runs.
Convenience a myth? I suppose you think glarefree head lights a Convenience?
Bean counters don't drive country roads at night and have to dodge deer.

I'm in the same camp as the last guy. If they take away the keypad then ford doesn't have that edge. The keypad is what keeps me Loyal to ford.
Solantis, dodge, Chrysler is out because they decided to lock out the ability to use diagnostic scanners. So absolutely no way to pull codes and do repairs. They force customers to use dealers even for brake work. That leave me with Chevy or ford.

Do what? I used a cheap code scanner on my lemon 2025 ram laramie to pull codes without any problem.

Brother, I said "to each their own" and "in my existence."

Your use case sounds great and I'm glad you find it useful.

Can you use your scanner to change the brake pads? Replace a headlight assembly? Reset transmission shift?
Reset tpms? I said pulling codes. Yes.
Doing actual repairs and can/lin buss diagnostics are not allowed unless I'm a certified repair shop. Just like what John Deer did to farmers on their equipment. Can't replace a starter or do any repairs unless they involve the dealer. I know there was a lawsuit for right to repair over that. Don't know where it sits.
