I've used one of those before (outside of and away from work) I would say it's speed is pretty comparable to a VCM2.

I am spoiled by having 2 VCM3s and 2 custom-built programming laptops as I do the majority of all the module programming and electrical diagnosis (one VCM is my personal one, the other is owned by the dealer I work for)
Nice, ya not sure then. It took a good two hours on my old 21 last year to do the IPMA so nothing new for me there. Since we both have 23s I imagine they had the same version to start so nothing different there. I even have a different laptop now than I did last year and no difference there, so must just be the difference between the VCM and Mongoose.

Bought a 2 day license and doing updates on my 22, last time I updated was the beginning of May 2023. Last OTA was the 6.4 redo. Looks like everything for BC 1.4.

Almost everything. A few have applied these already and the new BC is still not there. Something is missing. I think an APIM update to add the toggle switches to turn on the features associated with the newer BC, but maybe more. As antho mentioned in post 11,653, it does not include the config needed in the IPMA to actually be able to turn the features on. Not sure why......possibly a mistake?

If you already bought the license, then update away. Just don't expect to find BC 1.4 at the end of the process.

THe update does for sure is 1.4 but you have to enable the new features wth forscan as of now. For didnt release an udpated config to enable them. The features are there though no new APIM update needed.

It simply a lack of the as build changes being made by Ford.

2022 and 2023. It is expected to pop up for 2021's sooner than later. For now, it is only obtainable with FDRS and even then, requires FORScan changes to activate it. Not sure what Ford's logic is releasing the update without activating the feature, but that is where things stand at this time.
Ford Power-Up software updates delivers software updates that are designed to make future software updates more softer and more updated-er

Yea, I getcha. I was thinking an update to the APIM was needed for the general public that won't go in there with FORScan to add the toggles to the APIM or enable the features in the IPMA. We are fortunate enough to have you and others here that can help us where Ford falls short. Definitely a very underwhelming release that leaves a lot to be desired.

For the average non-FORScan user: Do you think that my theory about an APIM update being released to add the toggles to the touchscreen is plausible? To get the correct config on the IPMA to enable the features: Will that require Ford to send yet another IPMA update?

Edit: Or, if they did not intend to release the IPMA update the way they did, it would make sense for them to pull it off FDRS and put it back on once they fix it..

Fuckers! Why won't they drop the 21's?!
Careful what you wish for they could exclude 21 trucks entirely from the updated version of BC. ?

21 trucks do seem to always be last to get updates. Probably more hoops to jump through so they don't break our first year trucks.

I dunno. Ford customer service told one guy on here that the 21s weren’t getting it and he was convinced it was true. Maybe he was right ?

config requires APIM and IPMA changes. Not sure why they didnt at least introduce the needed IPMA changes.

Apim Update can be sent out to also update config. They did that for the original BC updates. But could also add a tab in FDRS to enable them.

I ran the IPMA update last night. It looks like it succesfully downloaded and installed everything in just over 2 hours, but has been stuck on "The module will now be configured" for 8 hours.

I assume its frozen? I can still navigate around the FDRS interface, download other SW Updates, and all three connectivity icons are green.

Thoughts on what to do at this point?

1.4 mini review

Just did my morning commute, 40 miles mostly 2 lane roads.

System didn’t drop in the normal locations, only drops in sweeping corners with intersections in them. Significantly more stable.

Do not like predictive speed assist at all, slows down way too much. Also gives you an arrow in your speed indicating turn direction and speed recommended. Immediately turned it off. The toggle also seems to replace the speed limit sign assist toggle.

No option to adjust default location in a lane, truck is now supposed to adjust as needed.

Both failed. “Procedure unsuccessful, WriteDirectConfig. Exception writing configuration to module.”
Did you select no when it asked if original module installed
