So digging up this old thread because I found myself stuck on the side of the road in nowhere NM with a flat tire.

Already ordered a tire repair kit but wanted to see what type of air compressors you all carried? I was looking at some 120v models since I have the 7.2kw PPOB. Would prefer something more than just a tire inflator, so I could use compressed air to use in the garage, blow out the truck or fill kids toys.
I have a smaller 1 gal quiet compressor similar to the 2 gal Harbor Freight one Hamma posted. Mine is Husky from Home Depot but Makita also makes one just like it.

I would have liked the 2 gal but it was heavier so I went with this. I think it was something like 45 lbs to 27 lbs. I have only used it a couple of times and it has been great. Any small handheld one I have seen in use just took forever to work, if it worked at all. Perfect for a PB.

Re carry on, air compressor.

I see the temptation to have a small tanked compressor but I don't see it being worth the space or weight for me.

I have an ancient, 12V Campbell Hausfeld, that tucks under the rear seat and so far, has never let us down.

If I was going to replace it, the new versions, that let you dial in the desired psi, seem like a no brainer.

FYI ya'll - the actual socket size for the lug nuts is 13/16", the 21mm is a hair too large, too much freedom around the lug nut.

Toolbox with basic tools (pliers, screwdrivers, sockets, zip ties, etc.)
Breaker bar with 13/16" socket
2 qt. of oil with long funnel
Several straps in different sizes
Towing rope with D-Ring shackle
Fire extinguisher
Paracord
Folding knife
Flashlight
Moving blanket
Gloves
Few rags
Battery compressor
Tire pressure gauge, but I use the one on the compressor
Tire repair kit and foam filler "just in case"
Jump Starter
The previous set of wiper blades. My dad taught me to always keep the replaced wiper blades set in the vehicle. New set goes on, the replaced set replaces the old spare :)

Now, funny how you feel like your 'truck' must be loaded with tools. I bet if we all drove an Accord or a Camry, there wouldn't be in it even 5% of what our truck carry :D

Yeah I see the weight thing coming into play but it's only 10lbs heavier (37 v 27), but it's 3x the compressor at tire filling pressure (~40psi). W its aluminum tank I just leave it at pressure. Jeep guys pay $600+ to get that type of performance from a 12v compressor config.

For normal driving I carry a stop-leak product in case a rock is tossed up and goes through the radiator. I carry an adjustable wrench so I can remove the battery cable if there is an electrical short in the wiring. I carry road flares to use should I encounter a vehicle stuck in the roadway.
I bought an Ares 70022 21mm socket that has a plastic sleeve to protect the wheels and carry a 24" long breaker bar to use to loosen the lug nuts.

Is the Sig so you can shoot yourself when the truck breaks down? That seems like overkill.

It's for when people from California move to Texas and their truck breaks down, you can never be too prepared ;)

Anyone who knows anything about the Sig would believe that it’s closer to underkill….But also anyone who believes in being prepared would follow his example. I’m more an HK and Ruger guy…and yes, my truck has a safe just for that purpose.

is the only tool that LIVES in my truck. It is fantastic. I use it on EVERYTHING. I used it to break loose the axle nut on my motorcycles which was 106 ft-lbs.

Often, I have a recovery strap, a kinetic rope, and shackles. Had to snatch an old farmer that got his dually stuck in a ditch two Christmases ago.

On road trips I bring along an impact with a variety of sockets, tire inflator, and an assortment of ratchet straps.
Just ordered this. Have had Knipex tools on my wish list for while. Cheers!

that stop leak. Shit is the worst. Crap you can put in your engine. That’s a very poor idea.

A very wise choice. These pliers are more than just pliers, and the quality is unimaginable. You will really like these, well worth the money.
