I see our Power Boost has again been rated as unreliable. I’ve had mine for 14 months and 14000 miles without a single issue. Two friends have Toyota hybrid pickups. Both have had at least 5 recalls. So I was wondering how many problems or recalls have the members here have had.

22 PB with 20K miles on it.

Only major issues to date are a leaking heat exchanger, failed rear end (3/4 float and replaced under warranty then had recall axle replacement) and leaking rear slider window (replaced under warranty).

Also had the rear cargo camera replaced under warranty which took nearly 10 hours of coding due to persistent DTC codes in the IPMA.

Much better luck than my neighbor's Tundra. 2023 with barely 11K on it and has already had the engine replaced twice. First time under the recall and the 2nd one lasted less than 600 miles before it chucked a rod out the side of the block when he was backing out of his driveway. He's also had transmission issues with it starting in 2nd gear a number of times, exterior trim come loose and the parking brake refusing to disengage. He's currently battling Toyota to get them to do a buy back on it now.

The biggest recall for my ‘22 302A PB (30k mi) was the windshield replacement even though mine never leaked. I also had the passenger side mirror camera fail after a hurricane driven rain event (Milton) last year. Replaced under warranty.

That’s it. Change the oil every 5k and rotate the tires. Drive it like I stole it every now and again. Keep it pretty clean.

Best vehicle I’ve ever owned thus far.

32,000 on mine now. It had the belt integrated starter generator replaced a couple months ago because it was throwing codes and sometimes not allowing electric driving.

It also had a PCM reprogramming recall that only took a half hour.

Nothing else hybrid related so far.

Who has rated it as unreliable? If its a credible source, one would presume the call is based on data: sales vs. problems. And there is a difference between "unrealiable" and "less reliable than average", a matter of degrees, I suppose.

I find it amusing that expectations have dropped so low that folks think it worth metioning that their $60K vehicle performed as it should for just over a year. That Toyota has lost their fastball does not excuse Ford for their shortcomings. "Sucks less" is nothing to aspire to.

That'd be Consumer Reports who seemingly has an axe to grind against the PowerBoost.

I have noticed a definite divide in car blogs and review sites where, unless they are EV centric, they tend to absolutely loathe EVs and Hybrids and take every opportunity to trash them. For example, I've literally never seen a Jalopnik article come across my feed that had anything positive to say about Tesla, or EVs in general.

Edit: to actually respond to the topic, lol.

I've only had my PB for 8 months/4000 miles so far and the only issue other than 10R80 weirdness was a wrench light briefly coming on referencing the shifter module that hasn't returned yet. No hybrid-specific issues yet.

Agreed. Most car sites will slam both EV's and Hybrids at every opportunity.

I'm no fan of EV's in general. Mostly due to poor range, lack of adequate charging infrastructure, abysmal warranty support (especially Teslas), glitchy tech, poor quality control, safety and reliability concerns. Hybrids on the other hand have been around for decades now and have had time to work out the kinks. The tech in them is solid and earned a very good reputation for long term reliability. So much so that many consider them to be more reliable than straight ICE or EV's. The tech Ford used in the PB is for the most part the same as what is in their other hybrids which lasts for 100's of thousands of issue free miles, but shill rags like CR came out and slammed the it almost instantly on its release and continue to do so despite there not being any wide spread reports of major issues with it from other sources. So there's that...

36k on my PB with mostly towing miles. Only minor recall items that dealer did by mobile service.

The early PB years deservedly got poor ratings. Lots of warranty work, especially the heat exchanger valve issue. I got rid of my 2022 this spring, because of multiple warranty repairs that occurred twice. Trying again with a 2024, though. Love the trucks.

2023 PB 501a 4x4 short bed 7.2KW. PL=1658lbs.
He repeated their crap while admitting he had no experience with one.

He was at least suspicious enough to ask for feedback and got it (in the comments).

Since I did the BMS reset, a year ago last April, my truck has been flawless.

18K, miles. About half of it towing 7-7.5Klb TT across the Rockies and back twice.

There is no other truck for me.

I never buy the first year of a major redesign due to kinks needing to be worked out. I don't want to be the guinea pig. Usually by the 3rd year the kinks are worked out and that has appeared to be the case with the Powerboost. By 2023-2024 the major kinks had been worked out.
