That makes sense if the cell tower goes green at the time wi-fi is off because OTA triggers come over the cell network.
It do ?. It shows correctly when I change some modules to RHD; going through the whole process slower and more testing checkpoints today ?. Pic is driver's door open (RH front of course)

I did that a while ago to detect the differences; emulating them by matching their RHD configurations in modules gives these hassles. It means the conversion company that did mine, did it differently.

For everyone's info, it's the IPMA that gives that door ajar graphic to the APIM; changed IPMA to RHD and the graphic is correct. This will generate a BLIS fault (as tested previously but will test again to confirm) at which time the next step is to try changing BLIS in the IPMA from network to hard wired. If I can leave the BCM alone, I won't get the RCM DTC.

Thanks @HammaMan, yes, I have. I can finally put this hijack to bed; there is no way to line everything up as RHD the way they converted it, without a DTC in the RCM which leaves the airbag light on in the IPC. I suspect they didn't physically swap the DDM and PDM, and the hard wiring for extra indicators swaps sides when I make them RHD; not good on the road?. I therefore disabled the door ajar indicator on the 360 view (while leaving the tailgate ajar working) using FeatureCfg_DPAC_DoorAjarInd (FCDPACDAI) • IPMA 706-02-01 xx6B xxxx xx-- -> 69. The IPC reports the correct door ajar, so that's good enough.

The vertical letters ECG & TCU are module status indicators.

TCU is the cellular modem and ECG is Electronic Control Gateway or Ethernet-Connected Gateway (I don’t know the exact term).

See photo below.

ECG disk status is reported through the APIM. My understanding is the remote monitoring theoretically could be used to determine if files are downloading to the Gateway properly.

OTA updates are an example of why to look at this. Normally updates are pushed to the Gateway in packets (over wifi or cellular), batched and verified on disk then installed over the vehicle’s Ethernet or serial area network to the designated target ECU.

IMO this is why so many owners express frustration with OTA updates. Most people assume it should work the same as updating an app on a phone when in reality separate packages need to download and verify locally in the gateway first. An update might look like it’s not working when it’s just waiting for more files.

Ford’s error redundancies causes owner impatience, but it is important to understand why you want local software checks before an OTA ABS update decides to install itself.

One of the telltales of a bad APIM, bad Gateway, or Ethernet failure is that the ECG indicator will turn red. For example if you’re driving around that farm on rough terrain and the ECG status intermittently turns red it may suggest a loose network cable in the vehicle.

The TCU indicator is helpful, because if someone was to have connectivity issues with OASIS it differentiates modem failure from cellular drop outs, from Ford’s diagnostic server uploads.


ECG - Gateway connectivity
TCU - Ford Pass Modem
Magnifying Glass - Ford diagnostic uploads enabled
WiFi - home router connection
Cellular tower - cellular connection

If ECG is Red you have a problem with your gateway, APIM or physical vehicle network.

If you have a permanent red ECG combined with check engine lights you have a really big problem; more than likely a faulty gateway but possibly physical network disconnection.

If TCU is red you have a minor problem. Local Network or TCU itself.

The rest I don’t care about but is helpful to see.

Note that normal EGC disk usage with no pending updates is only 10% to 15%.

When Sync 4 update files get pushed down over time before a batched install you can see this metric increase.

So I was researching as to why my OTA/Connected Services Icons appear sometimes and doesn't appear other times and came across this thread....look forward to seeing if this can give me some answers....good stuff

Hm, that one's new to me. My 21 PowerBoost has 60,000 km now. I've never had the icons randomly disappear, they've just always been there (after turning them on) except for the odd occasions during updates and when Siri causes road rage lol.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as my warranty is running out.....I recently changed my battery but this issue was occurring before the replacement (battery did correct all my other gremlins going on like different welcome chime, interior lights not working, not able to unlock doors, deep sleep mode which by the way, all the notifications on this disappeared and I was not receiving this message anymore which I found quite odd)
My TCU was already replaced once as the tech said it was failing after TSB update 23-2199
I am at a loss here so any advice appreciated @antho @rugedraw ?

Send me the VIN to see if it is reporting any codes that can help. From my understanding of how this works, this would not be a config issue.....if the config was wrong, the TCU would not work ever as opposed to having intermittent issues. Maybe a loose connection?

@DrivinTheTruck Got your message. Your truck is consistently reporting these codes. The lost comms and ethernet failure codes between the GWM and the TCU are without question a problem. The TSB calls for an update to the GWM, however, you do not show any pending GWM updates and OTA history shows you got 10.1.1 which is the latest TCU update which means you should also have the latest APIM software. I say this because it that is the case, you SHOULD be on the latest GWM software. From what I can see, your GWM is on the GAN strategy which is not the same software I have on my 2021. Give me a bit to look into this further.
