All Oxford White, in full chrome. Grandpa's grocery getter.

He, he.
I call mine the Grandpa truck lol. Antimatter Blue and the chrome.

Sport Mode for me is a must with the 5.0 and a Corsa Sport pre tire catback exhaust. I have to keep it in there since it deactivates the cylinder deactivation. Poor me LOL

I have a '18 with the 5.0. I've tried Sport mode a few times. It was fun. Now I have a '23 5.0. Today we were on a two lane highway where I needed to pass two vehicles at once. I shifted into Sport mode and mashed it to the floor. As I passed the second vehicle, my wife asked "how fast is that?" I could only reply "I don't know, I have to wait until the speedometer drops off the peg again." I've owned a lot of Ford trucks in the past 50 years...nothing like this one.

I personally think Sport Mode is the most legitimate shift strategy for the 10r80. Especially when just driving normal, without additional aggressiveness.

The additional tip-in mapping of the throttle can make you think the truck is "faster" in Sport Mode, but there's no difference in the factory tune/calibration whatsoever.

The issue is, for me personally, Ford nixes EV mode in Sport Mode for whatever reason. So just driving at a normal pace while enjoying a nice shift strategy will penalize you on Powerboost fuel economy. For no good reason that I can figure.

In my 5.0 I always use Sport mode with manual shift when I am on back country roads and what a difference it makes from Normal mode. Don't know if it makes a difference but I switch it out of 4A unless the roads are wet. Shifting isn't near as fun as it is with a true manual transmission, but it sure makes a mundane Sunday drive exhilarating.

I've used Sport Mode to great effect and comfort on long washboard gravel roads. Suspension response is very good even when I'm pulling the trailer over the washboard. That allowed a better speed with considerably less bunny-hopping than in Normal Mode.
And as has been said, it sure lets you know the capability of that motor. Love it!

This is the reason I don't use Sports Mode, I wish there was like a Normal+

It seems I get slightly more aggressive shift programming, like in sport mode it is more likely to downshift to a lower gear. I might be able to grab 1st at the same speed "Normal" would say "2nd is going to be enough for you".

The accelerator pedal is a bit over boosted and it likes staying in lower gears as well. I'd use Sport more often if this was toned down a little.

I had the same reaction the first time I tried it. I have to leave it in Normal or Eco. If I leave it in Sport, I'll get speeding tickets.
Funny you should post that. When I was 16 I got 21 tickets in one year and that was driving a 1957 Plymouth six cylinder flat head three on the column four door !

Sport Mode with usual relaxed driving style. I think Sport Mode utilizes the HVB in lieu of turbos when cruise control is active. Sure is an enjoyable driving experience to calmly use Sport Mode while commuting.

Uses all 10 gears and the shift points are sublime.

Edit: Picking up washer fluid on the way home. Geez ;)
