high voltage battery i believe

but let me toss some shade on the topic
today to go get the oil changed i drove 71 in sport just about 22 miles of the steady state 71
the highway (2 lane ) has small hills, and great curves truck would down shift from 10 to 8 at each little hill and boost would climb up about 1/4 to 1.2 of the gauge curve then taper off fast to zero
a few times it got to 10th, but mostly it stayed in 9th

i have driven this route in NORMAL a whole bunch of times it drops out of 10 to 9 to 8 almost as much, just a little hill and its 9 or 8 , with pretty much same boost behavior as sport, except it stays closer to 1/3 of boost gauge
yes i was bored, i could have slept the drive and been fine. i know the route very well
on way back..same speed i set to ECO mode
truck did a different thing i had not noticed before at each hill the truck stayed in 10th and boost ramped up to 1/2 or more until hill was crested and then it went back to nothing and you could feel the TQ being the big dog and pushing it keeping me at speed on the smaller hills, where in other modes its a downshift

i very rarely drive in eco.. i prefer normal 4a or sport
but today eco was the different beast
now in traffic in the town it was slower to react from a stand still or from 2nd gear up trying to get to 60, but once there, it held the gear and used boost vice downshifting...

So you drive in eco mode but lock out 9 and 10? I don't see any benefit there. Poor drive quality, and bonus your mileage is worse than just leaving 9 and 10 alone. Perhaps I should try it before judging, but I have tried to stomach eco mode and just can't for any extended period of time. Normal is my eco.
I never said I was a smart man. :) And really, I can't say that is what I normally do. I drive it so little, that I was playing with it that way yesterday.

I haven't used anything but 87 in mine yet. I haven't found it lacking.
Don't forget to switch to higher octane gas when you're towing. I've ended up probably 25% of my gas purchases being 93 octane due to when my towing trips happen to coincide with refills.

I will for any long trips but we haven't even taken the trailer on its first shake down cruise yet. Which will be very local. Still doing some minor mods, moving in etc.

I'll be pulling the service panel this morning to take a first peek and some pics. Then some other panels to trace wires for the solar, batt, inverter upgrade.

Its been too hot lately anyway. We'll probably sneak in a little trip or 2 before winter.

I wish my selection of drive modes would stay at each engine start.

Do you mean without having to OK it?
I would agree, though. Leave it as is until I change it.
Unless it is in a 4wd mode, maybe. I don't have 4Auto, so it's bad juju to drive 4wd on pavement.
