I have tried different phone charging cords but it seems that the phone charging is very slow. Does anyone else have this problem? How did you fix it?

Info on the vehicle would help.

I can tell that on my 2024 F150 the charging port on the dash is useless as it can't even charge my phone fast enough to keep up with Google maps. I have to use the one in the console. What sucks is ....

1) The dash charging port has low power but includes data.

2) The console charging port has high power but does not include data, so I have to use this one to run maps, while using Bluetooth to connect to Android Auto.

What a garbage design, unless something is broken with my truck.

I have a 2025 Lariat Powerboost. I'm currently using the dash charging port (C to C cord). I'll try the console port today to see if there's a difference. I hate using the hands free charging pad that is next to the dash port.

I have a 2021 powerboost and haven’t had any issues when using the USB-C or USB in both the front cubby or in the center console. My issue has been with the mag charger under the screen. I had ford replace the rubber mat but still the phone sticks there for a minute and then stops charging after a few seconds. Anyone have any experience with this?

Car mfg are just being cheap, including Ford.

I rent a lot of different cars and trucks when I travel for work and I haven't run across the connected data port (direct Car Play/Andriod Auto to screen no BT) that has what my phone picks up as "Faster Charging (15-25W)" or "Super Fast Charging (26W-45W)". I would guess this is the head display unit limitation.

You would have to leverage USB volt meter to test the different ports.

I personally purchased a 45W capable 12V cigarette charging adapter to power my devices and just use my phone's BT/wifi for Andriod/Apple connectivity.

I use the USB-C under the HVAC controls to my iPhone. I’d say it is “fast charge” capable.

I always recommend a good USB-C cord. I think USB-C is always capable of high power.

Personally, I have more or less completely moved on from USB-A. Use USB-C at every single opportunity. There may be some very old devices that only have USB-A but I’d say it’s a dinosaur at this point.

My phone connects to my 2024 wirelessly and I use the USB-C port in the console to charge it while driving as I don't or need my phone connected to a data port. The console USB-C port is fast charging and easily charges my phone even when it's connected wirelessly using Android Auto.

I have a tiny flash drive plugged into the USB-A port on the dash where all my personal music lives. The only change I'd like is a button to disable the data part of the USB-C port on the dash so I wouldn't need the cable coming out of my console however the setup I'm using works very well for me so no complaints.

Someone should be fired for putting that stupid charging pad tucked away down in that hole. What a stupid design.

I have no problems with it whatsoever. Been using it for a year. You must have T. Rex arms. I wouldn’t call it hole and I wouldn’t call it very far down.

I've noticed that the usb charge rate supplied by my truck is largely dependent on the remaining battery level of the iPhone. The main type-c port in the front of the console has never had an issue keeping up with the phone's power draw, but then I primarily use Anker usb cords. Same goes for the other usb ports in the truck. The only time there has been an issue was when my kids were using the cheap cables my wife insists on buying.

Very slow and I’ve even tested it with a Klein Tools ET920 USB-A and USB-C Digital Meter to confirm. Either plug into one of the 120v outlets with a fast charging block/cable or if you are like me and want to use wired CarPlay you need to get one of these:

If you have a usb c iPhone there is a special way you need to connect it. I can dig it up
If anyone needs it. (It’s on their support page now).

Why not just use the USB-C port in the console? Why would you choose wired Carplay or Android Auto over wireless? The port in the console has plenty of juice to charge the phone even when using wireless Carplay or AA. I don't really understand this thread.

I use wired CarPlay because it provides better sound quality and is more reliable than wireless.

I don’t use the port in the console because it charges my phone too slow.

If you are happy with how you are doing it then no reason to change.

None of the USB ports in the truck are "fast" chargers, hence why I use a good 12V charger in the 12V socket.

‘24 Lariat PB. The wireless charger is crap. Can’t believe that’s a ~$400 option. Hard to get a connection and remain charging. It has to be seated just right and have to apply downward pressure. And it’s a slow charger so can barely keep up if Maps and Spotify are running - it still uses more than it receives. I understand the phone cubby design if you were running full voice command. I barely use it. Annoying the USBs below HVAC prompt about data or data transfer when connected. Happy with USB-C in arm rest. Get good cables, I’ve been happy with Anker.
