Powertrain malfunction 2024 f150

So Monday I got the powertrain malfunction warning and the service engine wrench icon. After an hour of being parked it went away. Vehicle health was “good”. Popped up again today. Let vehicle sit for an hour, and it was still there when I crunk it back up. Truck is driving fine. Taking it to dealership in morning for them to diagnose. 2024 f150 lariat 5.0 with 2400 miles. Hoping it’s nothing major. Anyone else had any issues with this?

I just bought one less than 24 hours ago and pull less than 200 miles on vehicle and got this plus the pro power on-board service required too

As long as it takes for the replacement part to come in.

I called the dealership, and they have 10 trucks in the shop waiting for their replacement units. And I am behind them in line (plus whoever comes in before me) when I take my truck in next week.

This is unbelievably frustrating, there appears to be tons of 2024 F150's scattered across the USA with this problem. 2 are dead like mine at my dealer waiting on the parts. I did have a parts specialist look it up in the Ford system and it appears there is more failed trucks than parts, with an end of July promise date, but the last promise date was end of June and they already missed that. I had the light since April 25, intermittent that turned to constant wrench followed by a complete lockup failure pulling out of a parking lot while shifting from REV to DRIVE.

Don't even get me started on the 5 hours it took to get the correct dolly tow from FordPass 24/7 Road Side Service...

That's a lot of boat anchors out there....

Get to your dealer and get on the list right away for a replacement Gear Shift Module. Common problem. Ford has a quality issue and has back ordered these for a few months now. If yours goes the way mine went. Over 2 months up to 1 weeks ago, mine went from intermittent that turned to constant wrench followed by a complete lockup failure pulling out of a parking lot while shifting from REV to DRIVE.

I messed up again. I've been driving my truck for 4,000 miles now with a bad GSM waiting for a time convenient to get the truck in for diagnosis and now waiting for the new replacement GSM. I caused the failure by opening my door with the shifter in Drive causing it to back-drive into Park. This is the second time this has occured.

If this happens to you, try this technique to recover. It has worked for me twice.

Turn the truck OFF (there is really nothing else you can do for the moment). The GSM indicator will continue to flash even when the truck shuts down. I let the truck sit for 20-30 minutes and found something else to keep me busy. The GSM indicator light had gone out (this is good news). I got back in the truck and closed the door (all doors) before I touched anything. With the gear shift still in the Drive position, I tried to start the truck. The GSM light came and a notice popped up that the truck must be in Park to start. I was able to manually move the shifter into Park, then start the truck. The shifter continued to function after that.

I had same symptoms. Dealer ordered GSM. Took about 2 weeks to get it. About 1// day to do the work. My dealer got four more trucks while I waited for my part.

Mine ordered July 8; dealer received on July 17.

I can't confirm since my part has not arrived yet. The service rep said 2 weeks for the GSM to arrive (that would be next week). I mentioned that would be fortunate because many on the forum are waiting for over a month with still no word on when the part will arrive (like your situation).

Is this affecting the whole 2024 model year or was there a revision during the year ?

I took my truck in early in June and they had a new shifter in about a week for me. Since it was replaced, I haven't had any issues at all. The more trucks that report the issue, the bigger the backlog on orders. What used to be a week is now indefinite. Good luck to all with getting a new shifter in. Makes a world of difference. If mine wasn't a 24, I'd go with the shifter rotating knob from the Expedition mod. Might be quicker that way.
