These long change intervals are meant to placate the EPA and fleet managers/bean counters.

Ford's recommendation is to change the ATF every 150,000 miles. There is nothing to be gained by shortening this interval. Might as well get the air changed in the tires while the truck is up on the lift.
I disagree on value of an early change. There is manufacturing debris remaining in the transmission and changing the oil and filter early helps clear some of it out. Remember, Ford's goal is to get you to your first trade-in. If you plan on the long haul with your Powerboost, I kept a 92 Suburban 30 years (which helped get three boys thru college), so the long haul has its value. Also note that the transmission filter for the Powerboost is different from other Ford 10 speed transmission filters, so make sure they have the correct one on hand before the disassembly begins.

I haven’t been able to find it, but I think it’s in the transmission rebuild manual. Somewhere I saw a recommendation for a 30-50k fluid change by the builder. But I just can’t seem to find that.

Toyota has the same thing Toyota recommends 100k but the actual builder of the transmissions recommends 30k

these longer fluid replacement intervals are all due to CAFE. it has nothing to do with what’s good for the peace or the part or the component.

I changed both my transmission fluid and filter for the first time at 58K.

I never towed or hauled anything more than 1/2 payload, which is about 2/3rds of the total miles.

I'll probably do the next fluid change at 90K and the fluid and filter at 120K for peace of mind and because maintenance is much cheaper than replacing a transmission.
Mercon ULV or some other special blend of Unicorn blood?

Mind sharing the part number for the filter or should I trust my parts department to order the correct one?

I'm thinking about doing this, but I might just have the dealer do it since the small hoses in the pan moving/falling that @HammaMan posted makes me wonder if I want to mess with dropping the pan.

Anyone pay the dealer for this service yet? I'm at 48k miles and still have 72k left on my extended warranty.

Yep. Did mine at 30k and paid $720 out the door after tax (and tip lol). I might have added to the labor cost unnecessarily because I neglected to remove the Talons skid plate first.

Tech mentioned that the fluid was still "red" so 30k was probably too early for first change. Next change will be at 90k.

I do 90% of my own work on my truck but this is one job that I just can't do, due to lack of a lift and because my driveway is sloped.

My dealer quoted me $340 for a transmission flush today. They recommended that I wait until 100k to drop the pan and change the filter.

I’m considering just buying a five gallon bucket of Triax ULV on Amazon (it’s under $150) and doing the flush myself since that’s all the dealer will do anyway. Then I’ll pay them at 100k to deal with the pan and the associated tubes that can fall out.
Anyone run Triax ULV? It’s rated for Mercon ULV and has good reviews in Ford community.

When you guys are talking about transmission fluid changes, are you doing a simple drain & fill, or flushing the whole system? I would imagine a drain & fill only gets a certain percentage of the oil out.

If you drop the pan and loosen the valve body it's closer to 75%. Pan drains every 30k is more than sufficient to keep the additive package alive and well. Suck the pan at 30k. Drop the pan and swap the filter, loosening the valve body bolts at 60k. It will rain w/ the valve body bolts loosened.
