Most Likely is arguably conjecture.
Regardless, you have 60,000 miles to go before it's a concern. :)

IMO what will be 'telling' is whether trucks with a blend date after May 2, 2025 have the bolt or a nut.

I rather enjoy the conjecture and wish to continue.

Ford used a soft bolt that provided inadequate performance and is remedying the situation with a set of big nuts.

I’d say no pun intended, but it’d be an obvious lie.

Interesting conversation while dropping my truck off for the recall service.

‘The tech will inspect the hubs and perform the work if necessary’

“It’s an open recall and I start a 400 mile road trip tomorrow with my wife and 3 children tomorrow, it better be necessary”

I think they got the message, but if the new parts aren’t put in, I know who will have the longest open recall on the books…

Well, then. I got a phone call from my local dealer about this today. I didn't realize they had an updated axle. When I saw the voicemail I thought "You guys did this recall already!" So mine goes in, Tuesday. 90,000 miles and never broke a bolt, although it was making a grinding noise when they did the first fix.

New axles use a stud over a bolt, who knew those were better... /s

I'm having this work done right now. Interestingly, I got the "temporary" fix last year and a few months after that I was told by the dealership that the temporary fix was in fact the permanent one. Found out today they have the permanent fix ready now. ?‍♂

So the dealer said my bolts are okay, they will replace them with the new parts anyway, when they arrive in a few days ?

I called the dealership last week and they made an appointment for this Friday to allow the parts to arrive. In the meantime, I had my tires rotated last night (not thinking that could have been done during the appointment on Friday, but it is free at Discount Tire). Anyway, when they removed the driver side wheel, they found the axle bolt had sheared. This was my first broken axle bolt on my 2022. I guess I'm now covered if they require the bolt to be broken before replacing the axle.

I'm really hoping the dealership is actually doing their job and the parts are there on Friday. I will certainly call ahead.

Although a little annoying to be dealing with this recall, I do like that I'll be getting new axles and hubs at 30K.
I have found that the information you receive not only varies between dealerships, but varies between people you speak with at the dealership. Currently, my truck is sitting at and will remain at the dealership with the broken axle bolt. If the bolt had not been broken, they would not have performed the recall because they say Ford is currently limited the repair to trucks with broken bolts, and requires proof that the bolt is broken. I will be getting a rental while the truck sits at the dealership waiting for parts to arrive hopefully this coming week. The current service advisor I'm working with seems very good, so I'm optimistic (maybe ignorantly so) that this process will go as planned.

My experience mirrors this, when I called to schedule two or three weeks ago (I think a week post fix announcement). Conversation on the phone basically went:

Me: “Just want to confirm you’ll have the parts for the fix when my truck gets there?”

Them: “Yes, we’ve done a lot of these”
(I realize now they are probably talking about doing lots of “interim fixes”)

Ohh well, it’s scheduled to go back in two weeks and the parts should all arrive within 4 days. So if I show up and they are without parts again, will probably get some Dormans.

I took my truck in for this, got the song-n-dance about inspection and photos for Ford to see IF the shafts would be replaced. I told the nice lady (she was!) that my understanding was that it didn't matter. Left the truck. She calls the next day to tell me that the kit was already in and I had new shafts and hubs installed, truck ready for pickup! Outstanding!
