Thankfully, the actual task itself is pretty straight forward. It's far easier to do, with less chances of messing anything up, than changing a waterpump, if you know what I mean. :)

This dealer completed the recall after I broke an axle bolt a couple months ago. They did a great job except for forgetting to clock the little hub caps on my after market wheels correctly. No damage done, so I just broke out the 5mm allen and took care of it myself.

If I needed work done on my waterpump or 10R80........I'd be looking at other options probably.

I got a text (while I was serving on jury duty) Monday saying I was scheduled for the max tow recall this Friday.

I thought to myself "damn, it would be nice to be asked." I stopped by the dealer after I got dismissed due to speaking my mind when the defense attorney asked me several questions and found out I wasn't a bleeding heart liberal.

The service department thought my name was Frank........it isn't. So I asked if they had the parts in stock for my recall. Service called and the parts guy said yes, they had been there for almost two weeks

They got me scheduled for first thing Friday, but I walked out of there less confident than ever in the service department. The technicians have been solid, so I will keep my fingers crossed that everything goes well, and this doesn't impact my wife and I's 25th anniversary trip out to Colorado.
Had mine done yesterday, along with 10K Maintenance. I asked about the rear cam recall. All they've received from Ford so far is an advance notice of the recall; no solution as yet.

My dealer offers valet service to and from the dealer. I had them drive it home figuring if something had gone wrong with the install, they'd know about it pretty fast. Plus, saved me a 30-minute drive.

Valet service......oolala! I wish my dealer was that nice......hell I'd just be satisfied if they communicated a bit better. But I guess that's what I get for living in a military town instead of some uppercrust area.

Yeah, got lucky with a good dealer. I know it can be hit or miss. :flag:

yeah end of march my axles were replaced with the old style axles.
Called them up yesterday b/c they replace my windshield cowl and now no wiper fluid
it was disconnected at the tank and it appears under the cowl too.
but i called about the axles. they want me to bring the truck in for pics (guess i gotta clear her up LOL) to send to Ford. I asked to send the pics they need as i'm 45 min away and they refused. so now i gotta drop off the truck and let them fix the wiper fluid situation and take pics then reschedule when the fix is approved.
PAIN IN THE ASS

I realize how cynical it sounds, but I'm not letting a porter or a dealership staff drive my vehicle for anything beyond a post-repair test drive. ?
I had a 500 hp VW GTI that a dealer employee hit 130 mph after a warranty fix. I got the notification on my app and had a chat with the service manager.

I walked out of there with three free oil changes, an extension on the warranty, some cool swag and I never even raised my voice. I told the kid that I understood how sneaky the speedometer was in that car though.......I had it up to 175 during a romp with a C5 Z06..........that had definitely snuck up on me! I told them not to fire him, but funny thing was I never saw him again.

Yeah, I feel ya. I went back and forth on it but since it was free and rush hour, I rolled the dice. The first thing they do upon delivery is take pictures of the truck. "That dent wasn't there!". :ROFLMAO:

My friends truck after a dealer employee post-repair test drive. Nobody is driving my truck either.

Obviously, a post-repair test drive is different than valet service. My RO shows they did a test drive after replacing the recall axles. Not sure how you can stop them from doing that.

My truck went in to the dealership at 11am Monday for replacement axles. It is now Wednesday and still haven't heard a word from them.

For the record, I'm all for the expansion of the Ford remote service service. They absolutely can come to the office or the house and work on the vehicle. I'm just not willing to let them drive off in it.

In all honesty, it's a bit hypocritical of me. I will generously lend out my vehicles to a certain number of family/friends, although it doesn't happen that frequently. But those same people KNOW how meticulously I take care of my machines.

Folks that work at dealerships are jaded when it comes to vehicles. How else do you explain grease or grime on the headliner, armrest, steering wheel, or........

Might want to check. It is definitely a same day job, as long as they had the parts in stock.
