Got mine back today after having the recall performed. They had it for a week in total because there was a delay in shipping. The service manager said they've been using pictures of one with a broken bolt to get Ford to send the parts for those of us with them still intact. Hey, what ever works right? :cwl:

My dealership told me the only way to get the new designed axles now is only if have a broken bolt, because of the limited supply. So, here again, every Ford dealership seems to be doing their own thing. So congrats to those who got the new axles/hubs. I now have axle envy :)

From my service advisor:
New! REASON FOR THIS SUPPLEMENT Parts Availability for final repair Update: • Parts for the final repair for this program are now available in very limited quantities. • Owner letters will be mailed the week of May 12, 2025, to provide updated part availability.
At this time, the repair is only being completed on vehicles that have the bolts sheared off.
Nothing an impact gun can't snap?!?!?

Is Ford rolling out a fix with this updated design (OD threaded axle)? Is Ford sending out notices to get this fixed? Or is this the Dorman solution? Just got off a chat with Ford and status quo - "fix under development."
I received a letter from Ford yesterday (05-13-25) saying there was a permanant fix involving the replacement of both rear half-axles to contact the dealer to get the recall scheduled.

A little off topic but is the max tow axle completely different than the regular one or is it just heavier duty axle shafts?
Before 2021 they were just 35 spline semi-floating axles.

2021-2023 they are 3/4 float axles, so they have a hub that resembles the front a FWD car at the end of the rear axle tube, and the 35 spline axle has no flange on it. It is retained at the hub, so there is no C-clip on the diff side.

The regular 9.75 is a 34 spline semi-floating axle.

I thought same after I was told it wouldn't get a replacement unless one snap. So it's back to pulling of the center caps every so often or stick my head out the window and listening really carefully. Ridiculous.

Called dealer, can't do it till OCTOBER 2
That sucks. If you lived anywhere else I'd say just go to a different dealer but choices are rather slim for you up there.

I just called my dealer and the truck is going in next Tuesday the 20th. Sounds like your dealer is yanking your chain on doing it.

Not surprised that you are talking to someone at Ford and they are completely unaware that their employer released the updated TSB almost 2 weeks ago. ?

Forum for the win. (Every time, for that matter)

Truck owners will be receiving their official notification soon, but this thread is evidence that the early birds are already getting their worm.
Forum for the win, indeed. Got the heads-up here. Decided to wait for recall letter. Came yesterday so texted service dept. No problem to schedule but be aware that at least my dealer still needed me to text pictures of odometer and door sticker showing VIN to get the ball rolling.

Same. I had to text a picture of my odometer and VIN also. The only difference is that I had just gotten home from getting my new axles from them. ?

I got a snail mail recall letter about this. I plan to just bring this in to the dealer so they can't pull any fast ones.

Yep, Anchorage 130 miles away and wasilla 160 miles away, all owned by same dealer.

What's the trick for pulling the center caps off? I tried a bit with some plastic interior trim tools that I have, but eventually gave up as even they were too thick to fit into the gap and I didn't want to scratch my wheels. I'm not even sure I have the max tow axle, but figured I would check.

And do you have to check both sides, or just one?
