I have no idea…
But it sounds good!
I honestly don’t know, I barely have 2000 miles on this and haven’t changed the oil in it yet. I’ve been told the engines are broken in at the factory but I still can’t bring myself to run it up to redline yet.
I change the oil on new trucks at 500miles, then every 5k after that.

Retired and not looking. I am driving the wife crazy.
I hit 685whp and 778wtq on the stock engine with CRP Stage 5 turbos, port injectors, and a Livernois Custom Billet Dual pump system...

Fyi..Stock is 385whp and 500wtq.

...but it wasn't enough, so a week later I drove back to Livernois, and parts have been coming in.

I am having Livernois Motorsports build me their Race Series engine..?

Race heads, Diamond Pistons(coated and heat treated), Mahle Rods, Deck Brace, Sleeved, blah blah blah...

With my 50shot of Nitrous, It's gonna be spicey!

Goal is 700-750whp on fuel, and 850-900whp on spray..

....I may bump it up to a 100 or 150 shot..??....which would be around 1,000whp..

Having custom wheels made so I can get the power to the ground:
(2) 18x10 +30 offset
(4) 18x11 +40 offset

I had SP2 design me some custom wheels, to kinda look like my stock Sport wheels, to keep the sleeper look(Wheel rendering attached)

Two of the rears wheels are for my 325 45 R18 Hoosier DR2 Drag Slicks I already have..
..the rest of the wheels are for either Toyo Proxes STlll or some Nittos....because I tow, and need daily tires.

Red Rocket is gonna hurt some feelings...?

Engines are not "broken in" at the factory.

Can you enlighten me on where the confusion comes from? Meaning why we don’t have break in processes on the new engines like we had 30 years ago?
Since this truck didn’t come with a hard copy owners manual and I’ve only spent a little time sitting in the truck using the digital display to look up stuff, is there a pdf I can download load onto a computer to sit in the AC in my house and read?

Seems I’m behind on my oil change, I’ll have to take care of this on my next day off.

You can download a .pdf copy of the manual from Ford's website. I keep a copy on my phone in case I need to look something up and I'm not in the truck.

Finishes in engines, transmissions, axles, etc. are at a much higher level than they were 40 years ago.

Every motor gets the holy sh*t ran out of it, on the stand to verify it's not going to blow up, at the factory. They use quick disconnect oil and coolant lines, warm them up for 5 minutes or so, and then absolutely pin them to redline.

There is still some legitimate break in procedures that should be adhered too. Ya know, vary rpm, first oil change early, etc.

I used to break in sportbikes and also cars using what was called the mototune break in procedure. The website appears to no longer work but basically it's warm up your new engine, run it to redline, and using the gearing to bring the rpm back down by holding the lower gear. Basically, coast down. This method quickly maximizes ring seal, power & economy. I was tasked several times with taking peoples brand new R1s/ GSXRs/ ZX10s and breaking them in right from the dealer lot, because I was not scared to hammer the crap out of a new bike and knew how to ride them very well. Only needs like 15 minutes and you're done.

The issue can be safety on public roads when you have a real fast vehicle. So ultimately a dyno break in is best you just have to be aware of not overheating the engine since you don't have the advantage of massive air flow.

piston rings that is your enlightenment

Piston rings of today’s engines are considerably different than those of 30 years ago. They are different materials and they are considered to be low tension rings. These rings seal near instantly and have considerably less pressure on the cylinder walls than the chrome molly or cast-iron rings.

As far as oil change the sooner the better. I changed the oil my first time at 148 miles. 2nd at 1250. A 5K OCI thereafter. I also changed the differential in transfer case fluids. It’s amazing more people aren’t concerned with these machining debris and particles that are in the fluid from break-in

I have 12 oil changes with 33K miles now. Early on (new) it was changed often, now with the engine idle meter and mileage I wait until it is about 50% oil life left. Turbos love clean oil. Oil change is cheaper than filling the 36 gal tank...

The factory rear gear oil at 600 miles was dirty (not clear! at all), I have the 9.75 3.55s , during gears break in acids and particulate get released into the oil. Sure it will make 100K, but why leave that in there swimming with the axles and bearings etc. FRPP diff cover with mag drain + lube locker gasket...

Did the rear diff, front diff at dealer - have not done the center transfer case yet. It's a bit anal, but I want to keep my truck for a long time..

Also: good luck with the new Livernois engine, they are top notch - it looks beautiful.

How much would you estimate you've spent on your truck after buying it?
Shh! His wife might hear!

(says the guy whose wife really has no concept on how much he plans on spending on classic cars in the next couple of years, even though fitting six cars in the garage, by way of lifts, is his only real criterion for the house they're looking for!)

My wife is the daughter of a bank vice president. She once worked at a bank. She knows to the decimal how much money we have before I even realize it's pay day.

My wife and I don't share money, we don't even have a joint bank account.

16 years together, what hers is hers, what's mine is mine....I have no say in what she buys, and she has no say in what I buy...

My wife has a LOT of shoes, but I can't say shit, because she bought them with her own money...

That sounds exhausting
