Has any one attempted or figured out how to change the 2022 license plates lights from regular bulbs to lights to LED like the 2021?
I bought the tag bulbs from F150LEDS.com. They match great.

Other than it not being as bright does it make any other difference that the bulb is incandescent rather than LED?

It's just the color really. If you have the LED lights everything is very "white" and the tag bulbs are around 2700K (yellowish). That is the only reason I switched them out.

Ok that’s what I thought too. I like the look but it was the one thing that annoyed me before.

Now the only thing that annoys me is that the cameras get dirty so easy in any kind of weather. Lol first world problems I guess..
The 194 LED bulbs do not flash at all in my rear camera.

Good to know. Mine on the 2020 came from f150 leds. I’ll have to try the sylvania ones next.

Did you have to do anything to them to make them work in the 22? When I went to a “Amazon” link, it said they didn’t fit a 22?

As long as it has "LED Light Bulb 6000K 168 T10 2825 194" The 168 T10 2825 and 194 are all the same bulb base and will fit the socket. 6000K is the light temp or color. 6000K is pure white light, anything higher and it starts to have a blueish tint. Anything lower starts to have a yellowish tint.

No. I picked them up at my local Advanced Auto. The Sylvania brand 194 LED fit right in and matches color pretty well. It is a little brighter in the rear camera but not too bad and does not flash at all. Your results may vary, but I'm very pleased for $7 each.

I ordered bulbs from stage3motorsports and the swap is super quick and easy.

For me it was interesting how the plastic around the bulb appears to be some lower temp plastic as mine was burned black from the heat of the incandescent bulb. The LED will run way cooler and looks better...weird penny pinching move, but I get it. They are like most companies and would rather value engineer than raise prices - but instead they ended up having to do both.

If you walked around the truck, all the LED lights are white, then you get to the back and you have two yellow dull bulbs that did not match any other light on the truck. It's probably more OCD than anything else, haha.

Yeah, i can be CDO (same as OCD, but letters alphabetically like they should be)

I would have never noticed license plate lights.

Might be too bright for some states also. Says on the package off road use only. Who knows. I'm pretty sure I'm not going to get pulled over for the cop being able to read my plate better.

It will be some other stupid thing I'll be doing!

I have been using LEDs for 12+ years in my vehicles. LEDs use less power, don't produce as much heat and are supposed to last longer. Various colors (temperature measured in degrees Kelvin) is another difference. Don't count on these bulbs lasting longer than regular incandescent bulbs. My 97 F150 had the same brake light bulbs since new. Replaced with LEDs. When the LED bulb went bad, I pulled an original bulb out of the glove box and it still worked. LED replacement bulb are still working a year later.

LEDs are cheaply made overseas by the billions and seem to have a higher failure rate than other electronics. When you go with big brand names, they seem to be more reliable. Amazon and eBay have been more Miss than Hit for me. "Super Bright" means that if you have been living in a cave all your life you will be amazed.

OCD Alert ... Do not read past this

One thing I have realized is that when you go to replace 1 bulb in a set, they are of different brightness or the color is not the same. Even if both old and new bulbs are 1,000 lumen or 6,000K, the difference is notable. Be prepared to replace the entire set.

The process appears to be the same as this, really easy to do. I did not have a problem with the bulbs I bought flickering in the back up camera on my 2015. Not sure if it was the bulb I used or the camera.
