Yep, they do a lot of that swap in NC Miatas. Incredible value equation. Why would anyone rebuild a tired 2.0 with that option available?

$2,500, installed--which is a lot less than a rebuild, too--although it's going to be something like $700-$800 each way shipping--about the same as a two week haul trailer rental (if I had room, I'd buy a car trailer, but . . .).

While he'll pick you up from the airport, It's 1,300 miles to there from here; Siri says an 18 hour drive. At my height and age, that would mean *at least* four days of driving! (the days of 1,000 each in the E150 and the Crown Victoria before that are past! And I (almost) fit those!).

So it costs less to ship the car.

While shipping the engine here would seem attractive and a cool project, the $500 discount for pickup, and *not* paying $500 for shipping, pretty much cover the $1100 installation (or shipping; either way). But I wouldn't save much.

(I wonder if he can toss my old engine in the excuse for the trunk, or maybe on the carrier.)

It's kind of amazing that there are *so* many lo-hours Focus engines to do this with.
