23 XLT and after the latest update it automatically turns on “Lane Keeping” (the second most worthless option after Stop/Start) when you engage cruise control.

Is there a way to disable this without ForeScan or is it another button I need to hit to make MY truck drive the way I want?

I know that you can turn lane centering off in the cruise control menu. I dont think there is an option for lane keep assist there though. I dont mind the lane keep assist, but I find the lane centering to be annoying when not on the highway.

Retired and not looking. I am driving the wife crazy.
Lane centering is another fine option not ready for prime time that I think can be turned off. I am not near my 21, but I would start in the area of the other even less safe option of auto braking when one gets too close to something. Both are unnecessary accidents ready to happen. So far I have had close calls when both of these were turned on that could have turned into something serious.

Unfortunately, no.

BC 1.4 update included "One Button Activation" so that when you engage cruise control, Lane Keeping also engages. You can't turn off Lane Keeping in the settings.

Should be possible to turn off using ForScan but I haven't seen anyone post what values need to be changed. Haven't looked recently so maybe it has been posted since I last checked.

Unless something changed (Hopefully not), I found if I disable it with the button on my steering wheel it didn't re-activate unless I pressed the button again. Even with using cruise control. But the difference might be if a person has Blue cruise or not. Which I do not.

It does re-activate it. Turning Cruise On automatically activates it.
It is a stupid change that was not active originally despite claims here (in a thread that I started about this and other updates) that it was always behaving like this. It was not.

My 2023 got this update today. I do not have BlueCruise and my truck is now doing this as well. I have my cruise control in NORMAL (not radar) mode as well.

It’s, frankly, annoying the *%+! out of me.

Awful “update”

Any update on this? I really hate pressing a second button after cruise and I use the cruise button a lot for in town driving. Now it makes it a 2 button operation to start cruise (like on the Explorer where you press cruise then set).

Anyone find a solution for this? I love the adoptive cruise, but I absolutely hate the lane control. What a that lane control turns on all the time. What a terrible software update. Let me decide what I want not some software engineers sitting behind a desk that never drives.

Just press the lane keep button after turning on adaptive cruise and it'll turn off. Not a huge deal.

You can turn off FeatureCfg_ACC_OneButtonActivate (FCACCOBA) in the IPMA at:
706-05-01x*xxxxxxxx--
and reboot the IPMA in service procedures. I haven't personally tested this modification and I don't think there's a non-FORScan way to do this. Meantime, don't turn cruise on and off; use the cancel/resume button instead. This way, when you hit the lane keeping switch, at least it will stay off until the next ignition cycle.

This has been the most annoying OTA change on this 2021 truck. For three plus years, engaging cruise did not auto engage lane keeping. This truck doesn't have Blue Cruise. It is dangerous when towing a travel trailer. Even with lane centering, the truck stays closer to the right white line versus truly centered, so don't use it in traffic. In our 2025 explorer that has BC, turning on cruise does not turn on LK. But when using LC, it is dead center in the lane, but still only use it when not in traffic. The one button activation should be a menu setting and easy to implement by the Ford dev team.

I have had the lane centering try to pull the steering wheel away from me on a couple of occasions after engaging cruise. I am more careful now when I engage it. Cruise is supposed to make things easier, but this current iteration makes me not want to use it.

Look at it this way. Ford solved a problem we didn't have with a problem that can be very dangerous. Of course.
