I ordered my '22 Lariat 3.5 EB in December 2021 (took delivery in March 2022). During the process of selecting options, trim levels, power trains, etc. One of the larger debates I had with myself was which engine to get - the 3.5 with the twin turbos, or the 5.0 (I ultimately chose the 3.5). Shame on me, but the 2.7 was not even a consideration - it was dismissed out of hand. Since then however, I have read a number of articles indicating that it is actually a fine, strong little engine.
Fast-forward to yesterday. After dropping off my truck at the dealership for some warranty work, I got a 2024 F-150 4WD as a loaner vehicle. When I got it home, I looked closer at the window sticker. It had a 2.7. I was surprised. The truck seemed to have plenty of power, drives great, and gets better fuel mileage. My earlier prejudice was turned around. Lesson learned.
