Someone finally left the radio on in a cruiser at work. This is a Ford Taurus with a 3.7L V6 engine. In my experience they always need a boost pack - jumping off another car isn't quite good enough.
Fired right up on the first try.
Alright, I'll bite.
I work in rural law enforcement, though I'm pretty sure I could sell F150s for a living instead. Since I bought my 2023, I've convinced five other officers to buy an 2.7L F150 XLT Supercrew - the last one, we were on an admin run and were waiting for our cruiser to be fixed...
I'd argue front flush mount looks better for the vast majority of trucks which don't have a folding work surface. Plus it avoids the patent, hopefully.
From personal experience the Setina pushbar reduces front end damage, at the expense of damaging the hood when the pushbar bends backwards. Our fleet people seriously (and unwisely) considered removing pushbars for that reason.
Disclaimer: I won these items in a giveaway, so I can't quite do an unbiased review. But, I will do my best to address pros and cons.
I recently saw a thread on the forum where Wolfbox was giving away a jump starter and air duster. Frankly, I expected not to win, but like an Australian...
Yeah, once properly aimed the the fogs are great. Takes a few minutes with a 10mm socket if I recall correctly. Don't even need to take your front wheels off.
The 5.3 is easily the worst fleet motor I've ever had to deal with. They burn a quart of oil per 12 hour shift, fill the cabin with burned oil smoke when idled and we've had multiple full engine replacements over 200,000 km on each of our Tahoe PPVs. Dealers all say it's a design issue and they...
Best Ford truck I ever drove was an F250 with the Godzilla V8 when I was posted to a reserve in Northern Ontario. That thing didn't stop for anything.
Otherwise... probably a Ram 1500 Sport.
Went to the shop just as the first storm of the year hit and got my annual Corrosion Free undercarriage spray.
Not bad for my truck's fourth winter up here in the land of road salt and brine.
Oh, an H7 will work. But your battery tray on a non-powerboost will fit an H8. For a little more in cost you have added insurance that your battery gremlins won't return.
Your Lane Keeping not activating may be a function of speed. Under 40 MPH it is inactive.
I decided back in late 2023 it was worth the 200 something Canadian to buy my own H8 instead of fighting with Ford to get me a new Motorcraft battery. There also was a software update that made battery...
I'm not sure if Ford is willing, or able, to pay the 50% tariff on Canadian aluminum. I dont know the exact math but my gut feeling says it'd be a worse deal than just suffering through production shortages.
My wife had a bad experience with the X-Ices on her car around that time after this thread, so I ended up going with the Grabbers, of all things. No regrets, they work beautifully.
I know it's not the answer you're looking for. Best of luck in your search.
The 2.7 will be more than enough. If anything I wish it had more character - it's a bit quiet for the performance it pushes out. Plus oil changes on it are quick and easy.
