yes, we had everything running including the 1500w microwave, a 1000w electric kettle, and the gas hot water heater (which still draws some current) all at the same time. We did not run the washing machine at the same time since we were just testing, but I don't think it draws that much. The refrigerators have some inrush and when the compressors kick, but smooth out once running. We have some head room left to run a portable AC if needed in the 9+ months of summer here. We also have a small portable heater if needed, but it rarely gets cold here and we have a gas fireplace. Definitely not enough power from the truck to run our central HVAC though, which is why we left it on the main panel. And almost all our lights are LED which don't draw anything.

Spoke with my dealer GM today. The Floating Neutral vs Bonded Neutral came up (eg he agreed to push Ford about it). He stated that Ford has said, to him, that they're working on it. Apparently Ford has gotten many requests to fix that. I noted that for his geographic area, there are many families that believe in being self-sufficient and that a true 7.2 kW generator would carry them through some nasty winter weather... I say true 7.2 kW generator since the engine power rating is much larger than the electrical power rating, so there's no loss of kW due to altitude effects on the engine.

Note that if Ford does provide a method of changing the generator to a floating neutral, the need for any kind of neutral switching transfer switch is no longer necessary. But note that you will need several things to comply with the NEC: a four wire cable between the truck & house that includes a ground wire (at least 30 amps)(two hots, a neutral, & a ground wire), an interlock between the inlet breaker and the main power breaker (Square D makes a manual one), an outside male connection plug box (ie don't try a cable with male plugs on both ends)(Home Depot carries these), and an inlet breaker rated for 30 amps/220 VAC.

Hmmmmmm . . . so already set with the above (my initial electrician was wrong about the Ford Generator to no ones surprise) and my Transfer Switch is set to arrive later today. Now the debate is do I install the transfer switch or return it and wait for Ford?

My thriftiness says to wait . . . my experience with waiting on Ford tells me otherwise. Ha. Decisions, decisions.

Well... I first raised this with Ford last July... and they blew it off. My dealer, a good outfit, said he'd push on them and since he says they have had quite a few other inquiries... At the end of the day I suspect that, althought it is electrically easy, the way they set it up means it is practically not so easy... In other words, don't hold your breath waiting.

Someone in the Lightning forum installed a Generlink device at the meter. Their documentation implies it works with both bonded and floating neutral generators. Could this work with the Powerboost?

Edit: I see this has already been looked in to and they said it won't work https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/thr...egration-system-installation.9619/post-193398
The reason it won't work on a PowerBoost is that the generator sees the ground inside the house and shuts down the generator. If you open the bonding in the Powerboost generator, this fixes things. That's why they need to take this on. Alot of people will buy it in order to have a full house generator.

Yep, this is exactly what I am thinking. A bird in the hand and all . . .

My power company doesn't allow anything between the meter and the box.

The good news is that Generlink knows this and won't sell it to you if that is the case.

No need to put anything between the meter & the breaker panel. The input cable from the generator goes into the breaker panel and the interlock goes on the breaker panel. Thus when needed you open the main breaker, shift the interlock, and shut the input breaker from the generator.
