I've managed to "learn" how to get a 1-2-3 shift out of the 10r80 MHT in Normal mode with just the right approach with the throttle.

My ‘21 F-150 Powerboost has this issue around third gear, as well. How would I get this update? Is it an over the air update, or something the dealer has to program? ThanksI have to remind myself consistently that statistically speaking, the VAST majority of the F150's, especially 2021's, are running down the road pretty much exactly as they were produced on the assembly line.
This forum is a teeny tiny slice of 1%
So only a small percentage of those 2021 owners are aware of the solutions available to update the truck they purchased to better represent the F150's that are CURRENTLY coming off the assembly line 2+ years later.
Once the encryption is broken and tuners like Unleashed is able to get into it, adding a mild 87 octane daily tune will be #1 on my list. Torrie is a genius with tweaks to the shift strategy so it hits every gear and is butter smooth doing it but will also roast the tires into 2nd and 3rd if you rhomp on it. The 87 and 93 octane tunes on the 20 Ranger were like that. Normal city driving kept the 2.3 eco in its powerband w/o lugging and was soooo much better than stock. Something I miss on a daily basis.Getting rid of the 1-3 skip shift would solve A LOT of the bottom end nonsense. ICE start w/ 1-3 shift = shudder every single time. Dumb thing should be an option in sync 4.
I don't have any issues with braking / creeping. When you're running on hybrid motor alone, should be quite smooth.
Some updates are available OTA and are pushed at Ford's discretion. However, I'm guessing that a PCM update, and that IS what you are desiring, is going to require FDRS to apply. My ‘21 F-150 Powerboost has this issue around third gear, as well. I just an email about pre orders for the newest SCT device for tunes on the 21+ EB. Sweet. Now hopefully the SCT BDX unit will work so I don't have to buy another tuning module. Granted I can sell the BDX but rather not if I don't have to.I just an email about pre orders for the newest SCT device for tunes on the 21+ EB. I believe it’s on his site now

I also put a bottle of Techron in my gas every time I change the oil and I’ve been doing it for about 30 years. My MPG also goes up 1 to 2 when it’s added and I only use top tier gas.One thing I have found on vehicles once you start getting the mileage on there is you have to keep the fuel system clean. On my older cars (carbureted) I would spray Gumout into the carburetor while the engine was running and keep the RPM up. You could see the metal cleaning up inside the carburetor. On cars with fuel injection I would get into the throttle body to clean it along with the cold air induction kit. They say the modern gasolines have all the additives to accommodate that, but I simply don’t believe it. At least not clean enough to keep the mileage at its peak throughout the life of the vehicle. It may help, but I see improvement every time I use the fuel cleaner in my gas. After I get about 10k miles on an engine I start putting Techron in the tank about every 5k miles. I notice a small improvement in both performance and mileage. The mileage goes up between 1 and 2 mpg. Anyone else use these fuel system cleaning products?
I had the same issue on my 21 PB Platinum. Took it and they had it 4 days. The flashed some code, and that didn't fix it. Then they waited for a lift, opened of and drained the tranny, did some checks and adjustments on throttle bodies and sealed back up. Passed the test drive. That was about a month ago and it has performed perfectly. No harsh up or down shifting past 3rd and electric to gas transitions very stealth likeI have had a '21 powerboost for a full year now with 15k miles. Beyond issues with stupid things from day 1 like power mirrors not working and the 11 month debacle that has been, I just really dislike the ride. I was so excited to have this truck, after my '20 Ram was rear-ended and totaled after less than 2 years, because after living through the Texas snowpocalpyse the 7.2kw generator in this truck seemed to make it perfect. But since day 1, my Lariate pb has been a downgrade and disappointment from my Laramie 1500.
First, I love the idea of a hybrid with great mpg, lots of power and speed, and the built in generator. Not to mention the fact that I was able to put a hefty sum down and get 0% interest in Oct 2021. I thought this truck was going to be the best of all worlds. But what I found was this truck drives like complete crap. There are very noticeable jerks when switching between gas and electric plus accelerating or decelerating, especially around 3rd gear is extremely rough. Every time I accelerate or decelerate I feel these jerks, pauses, and jolts and it is driving me insane.
When accelerating up a hill I will hit third gear and then it feels as if it downshifts and throws me in to the back of my seat as it shifts higher. When decelerating it can be very sudden that it shocks people in the vehicle. Sometimes there is a hesitation when accelerating causing me to hit the gas a little more which then leads to a jerk forward once the truck catches up. Nothing about the ride is consistent or comfortable. I hate comparing it to the ram but the hemi ram was smooth in acceleration and deceleration all the time. During the last 11 months of dealing with other issues I have mentioned the issues with the ride quality each time I took the truck into service and the dealer has done nothing for it. On the work order it says "no work done." I Paid 68k for this truck, full sticker 1 year ago, and I couldn't be less happy with it.
Most likely I will need to hold onto this truck because current interest rates are terrible and no one will give me a decent trade in. I am one service appt away from filing a lemon law claim here in Texas for a buy back. If we have a power outage in the next winter or 2, the generator may be the only saving grace, if it's not in the shop.
I just got my 22 Powerboost and it seems to drive great. After reading your post I was looking for where you shift between Normal, Eco or Sport and can’t find anything on the console or dashboard where these are indicated. So how do you determine which of these options your driving in ??I realize this won’t help with the comfort, which I dare say felt better in my 2018 or service factors,…. But I H A T E normal drive mode for much of what you mentions and find Eco much smoother. And switch to sport when getting onto the highway to eliminate any Eco gap when I might need to get better acceleration response. Just keep an eye on the screen after you start the truck kto click Ok to stay in Eco more (or last mode) or it defaults to normal. Hopefully this will help you through some time between vehicles.

I did download the owners manual and about died when I saw that many pages. I’m slowly but surely learning the technology in it but it will take a while. That’s why I figured I’d just ask here to get the simple answer and cut to the chase. That is what the forum is for, correct? ?Congratulations on your new truck!
You should download the owners manual (750 page PDF file) and get to know the amazing number of options that are available from the cockpit. It can take many miles to discover them accidentally.![]()
