Looks like ford demoed the next gen infotainment over the weekend to a lot of outlets. Overall looks like it adds a lot of nice touches and they are giving individual teams the ability to use it how they see fit. One noteworthy change is they are abandoning the sync branding for this platform. Hopefully the F-150 team adopts this but keeps the hard buttons. While I like the tech, I much prefer hard buttons for most vehicle functions as I find them easier and less distracting to use. My wifes Lexus is entirely touch screen and my eyes are off the road for way longer to change anything.
One thing that sticks out to me that I don't like is the steering wheel controls look to be adopting the Tesla/Lexus (and I am sure others) setup where the buttons are context aware and nothing is printed on them so to you are never quite sure what mode they are in and have to look somewhere else to see what they are going to do when pressed. Will reserve final judgement until this is out in the wild and more used but so far seems like an overall win even with some drawbacks.
