It doesn’t mention that in 2024 Ford removed the BISG because the system was judged not to need that redundancy.

Anyone know if it can be deleted after the fact?

IOW, were mine to go bad, would it have to be replaced, if its been decided to be superfluous?

Since that would require a lot of reprogramming, possible updated modules the likelyhood of this being a thing for the 21-23's is very unlikely.

I assumed as much but thought there might be a decommissioning procedure.

Thanks for sharing. This was very helpful for understanding how it works.

Very interesting and coming from my alma mater Weber State University.
I’ve been watching this guy for years. Really a good chance to nerd out watching these videos.

It's a very clever and thoughtful design. Too bad the 10R80 is such a turd. If Ford had implemented this onto a ZF8 speed, I'd never even considering buying anything else

Too bad they didn’t incorporate it into the 6R140 TorqShift 😏. I wouldn’t need the onboard FlexPower 4000e inverter/generator sipping from my gas tank. Oh heck, let’s have both! ❤

When mine went bad, I no longer had a hybrid function. Once the engine started, it did not shut off until I turned it off.
It would do this intermittently over the couple of months before I could get it fixed.

Thanks but that must be in the programming, because they eliminated it in 24+.

This is a great video that is very simple to understand.. Good teachers make things easy to understand!

I do have a question for you all.. The professor mentioned the 3 different ways the PB engine can be started - the 12v starter, the belt integrated starter / generator and the high voltage motor / generator.

I can clearly tell when the 12v starter kicks in.. It makes the distinctive sound but I rarely ever hear it..

I am not sure if I have heard a difference in sound between the other 2 starters.. I don't think the high voltage motor / generator makes any sound other than perhaps a slight whine when running.

Under what circumstances does the belt integrated starter kick in VS the high voltage motor?

Didn't he say something to the effect of it uses the 12V starter every time to start up initially?

I know that's not right. I've only heard mine start up that way an handful of times. I assume it uses the belt starter most of the time when stopped, the hybrid starter when moving and 12V starter when it's coming out of a deep sleep or hybrid battery is too low.
