Just went through a full update on my 2021 F150 Powerboost Platinum Job1 truck after last updating it in 2022 for BC. I ended up replacing the 12V AGM battery today at nearly the 3-year mark due to low SOC error during the APIM update, even after being charged for 24 hours. Went through about 12 or so updates (APIM, BCM, DDM, PDM, TCU, IPC, CCM, ABS, PCM, SCCM, etc.). I had problems on two modules, the BCM and the IPC. The BCM programmed fine, but then failed at the configuration phase. Tried it again with the same issue. Reached out to Jesse and he suggested I perform a PMI. Prior to doing that, it would not complete the BMS reset procedure for the new battery either, but after doing the PMI, that went through. The IPC updated via USB, but then FDRS complained about a communication error, and the cluster was not happy. It was flashing that it was in valet mode, and other warnings. Restarted FDRS and tried it again, but this time it skipped the USB update and went straight into programming through the OBD2 port. After it finished updating and configuration, all of the weird warnings in the cluster went away.

It was certainly more eventful today than the first time I did this with even more modules, but it still had me out in the driveway on and off for about 5 hours today. All good now and no DTCs. My truck has a very good OTA history, but I wasn't driving it during December, and it missed the APIM and BCM updates, so I decided to spend the $50 and get the truck updated. I bought the PremiumCare warranty this week for 10 years, 100k miles, and also paid for BC for three more years for $600. With only 7,200 miles on it, the dang thing is still like new. lol

7200 miles in 3 years isn't 10 year 100k a bit high?

Glad you got the issues sorted out with the updates.

Hi all.. hope someone can help me or point me to the right place to ask for this help. I got the Mongoose cable last night and started applying updates to my 2021 last night. All went pretty well but it errored out on the Body Control Module update, said Procedure Unsuccessful and Failed to restore Module Configuration. After doing some searching, I thought it may have been due to some Forscan changes I made a few months back..

So this morning I fired up Forscan, intending to restore the backup I took before making any changes.. but that errored and told me it couldn't read the file. So (like a dumbass) I tried to restore them all to defaults by downloading from Ford. This also errored at block #88 and hung at 98%.

So I closed out of it, and cycled the ignition, all seems OK except that my 21" radio has black bars around the edges like something isn't right there.

Wonder if someone could either help me figure out how to restore my original backup, or to correct the mess I may have made. Glad to send someone some paypal funds for your time and trouble if you can get me to a resolution!

Thanks in advance

@Jesse-Infotainment can confirm, but this has happened to a few people and he recommended doing a PMI on the BCM to fix the issue.

In the toolbox tab of FDRS, click the BCM module on the left side and that will cause all the functions you can do to the BCM to populate on the right side. The PMI option should be there. When FDRS asks you if the original module is installed, select "no".

Thank you sir, I will try that. It's interesting to me that it doesn't show up as an available update any longer... But I will have to wait a bit as it's doing the IPMA module now and it looks like it will take a while.

I thought it did this one last night, but apparently not.

For this particular error immediately after the BCM update, you might not need to do a PMI. I got the same error. So, I did a network scan, view CMDTCs, and got 18 DTCs. They were all communication errors. None was a configuration error. So, all I had to do was a clear & retest and all modules then reported in green. No errors and the BCM update disappeared. I did a couple of follow up self-tests on the BCM to make sure—all good. Haven’t seen any problems.
