I'll try to capture the process and make a second thread. new PCM was 480$ with tax.
Your Issue will be with Pats. you dont have access to program pats. The key security.

You can program it but youll be unable to start it without running the alignment process in Pats

Will be tackling this in 30 minutes, I have access to a PATS login now.

I'm rooting for you because it's the ONLY way that I would be willing to tune my landyacht.

Leave it unplugged overnight just to make sure that the TCu isnt locked up.

You may also need to do a master reset to get the TCU basically aligned witht he account
Unplugged overnight didn't seem to help, but will do a master reset. I returned my loaned mongoose cable, is master reset the one done through sync menu, or can it be done with forscan?

The process to replace your PCM is straight forward:

Physically swap PCM under the hood.
-- You have to remove the 3 connectors (like you were flashing with SCT)
-- Then there are 2 plastic clips holding at the top of the cover, once you push down and unclip those, then you have to pull the entire cover towards you, on my truck I thought I was going to break it.
-- You can twist it down and out of the way. There are several wires on Christmas trees attached to the bottom of the cover, leave everything attached.

Once you have the cover off, there are 2 white retaining tabs that you twist out of the way. The old PCM pulls directly out of the PCM bracket using the sides of the PCM as rails. The new PCM goes in precisely the same way—reverse order.

Hook up the battery charger to the battery.
Configure your laptop with FDRS + dealer login.
Click on the tools tab, then find PCM - Programmable module installation (PMI) and run it.
Follow the steps accordingly.

After this is done the truck won't start because there isn't any immobilizer configuration.

You'll need to go to PCM -- PATS Programming
When that loads up, you'll want to pick:
Module Initialization (Parameter reset)

The first time I ran the PATS programming, it failed. I went back and ran it again and it worked. The truck started right up.

PCM is going to Fedex (and HPTuners) once I finish up with work for the day. If you have specific questions, send me a PM.

Update: One other thing I forgot, you must do a Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Misfire Monitor Profile Correction Learn procedure to remove the permanently set P0315. The tremor exhaust is pretty loud at 4500 RPM lol!

Since the dealership has been less than helpful with regards to updates, this morning I took the plunge and ordered myself my own Mongoose.

Since I'm fairly late to the party (654 pages?!) other than the guides outlined in the first two posts, and the linked guide by Bob Mac, have you all as a collective group established any other good pointers for newbies heading into this for the first time? Ordinarily I'd be all about reading through the forum, but 654 pages seems a bit much to "catch up" on.

Thanks in advance!

There are a few youtube videos outlining the process of updating modules with FDRS. The software itself guides you and tells you exactly what to do step-by-step. However, if during the update process you get stuck, post your issues here. There are plenty of people following this thread that are well versed with FDRS that will help you out.

Thanks! That's what I'm counting on.

I didn't realize when I bought my truck I was going to have to learn to update and program it myself just to get the features that I paid for, but I'm comfortable with FORScan at this point so this'll just be one more tool for my toolbox.

I am right with you, I just posted my short story, long post on another thread https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/thr...-that-arent-getting-updates.15480/post-347042
I will be starting FDRS first thing in the morning.

Installed FORscan on the laptop. Got the free two month activation code. Hooked up the Mon good and messed around in the app a bit and found where Nav and Sat Radio were disabled for some reason. Enabled them and now both are running like they never left. Thanks @rugedraw and @Jesse-Infotainment for the nudges in the right direction. Ruge, I’ll ship the mongoose back this weekend. Thanks again!

Good luck! Keep us posted how it goes.

My battery tender and Mongoose should be here tomorrow so I'll probably hold off until next weekend so I can get the most out of my FDRS license.

I'll be honest, based on how much this was it feels a little anticlimactic. ? I'm sure that feeling will pass once my truck works the way it was always supposed to work.

Here's to hoping the weather is good next weekend ?
