Leave it unplugged overnight just to make sure that the TCu isnt locked up.This tracks, Jesse told me I should get the same part number to be safe, but I found a different one for $40 on ebay, so lesson learned. Cheapest one with my same part number was $160 but then I'd probably have a working tcu. I just kinda got sick of dumping money into a problem that I shouldn't have to fix, but I know if I took it to the dealer for this I'd either not have a truck for a month, or they'd screw something up more.

You might be the first I've read needing a PCM.Has anyone replaced their PCM with a new one? Any instruction/walkthrough with that? I have a mongoose cable, all of the software installed, and about to order a license.
EDIT: just saw Rugedraw response. But anyhelp is definitely appreciated!!What Is your Vin
Apim as build is goofed up. Need forscan to fixI am without Nav/satradio after doing all the updates and the Nav currently just shows me motionless in Dearborn on the Nav screen in my truck (I’m in Dallas)

word. That’s something I have not dove into. Is there a link on that whole process I can read over? Thanks again!Apim as build is goofed up. Need forscan to fix
Download forscan for free forscan.orgword. That’s something I have not dove into. Is there a link on that whole process I can read over? Thanks again!
truck runs fine, I'm sending my current PCM to HPTuners to be unlocked, to avoid waiting I bought another PCM to swap in. I've upgraded strategies on an MKZ and my Mustang using IDS before. Figured it was basically the same, but thought I'd ask first. You might be the first I've read needing a PCM.
What happened?
Great strategy!truck runs fine, I'm sending my current PCM to HPTuners to be unlocked, to avoid waiting I bought another PCM to swap in. I've upgraded strategies on an MKZ and my Mustang using IDS before. Figured it was basically the same, but thought I'd ask first.
I'll try to capture the process and make a second thread. new PCM was 480$ with tax.Great strategy!
Don't want to divert the thread, but let me/us know how it goes?
BTW: FORscan is a good way to change things up in your truck to make it your own. The Mongoose will work for it, but it is not needed. You should get one of these and keep it in your truck:word. That’s something I have not dove into. Is there a link on that whole process I can read over? Thanks again!
I'm guessing that the procedure would be similar to what you have done in IDS, but rather it will be FDRS for this truck.I'll try to capture the process and make a second thread. new PCM was 480$ with tax.
logically this makes sense, but we will see. I'll proceed with caution. I was told to ensure I have at least both keys (which I do). The only concern I have is if I need a dealer login for PATS, but if you have 2 keys you shouldn't need to touch the PATS side. We'll see. If I need a dealer login I may have ae work around.I'm guessing that the procedure would be similar to what you have done in IDS, but rather it will be FDRS for this truck.
And don't do anything based on what I say, but if you were to update the original pcm to the latest update available, then do an FDRS PMI procedure on the replacement PCM, I'm guessing you would have 2 PCM's pretty much identical and both compatible with the truck?
I fear I must be oversimplifying something?
