ECU module programming guide using FDRS

FDRS Noob.....
I guess I need someone to hold my hand. I downloaded all the appropriate software (I think) FJDS, FDRS, VCI Mgr., IDS.....I activated my Mongoose.....I created an account with Ford. When I hook up the cable to the truck and launch FDRS, after I do the "get VIN", I get an error message "Internal error". What am I doing wrong?

A couple of ideas:
Assuming that FDRS / VCI both detect the Mongoose properly?
Do you have any antivirus software running?
There's also a way to clear the FDRS cache that was mentioned in this thread (may be under C:\Program Data\?)
Network connection ok?

Network connection is great, battery power is good. Not sure about the cache needing to be cleared, as it was the first time opening the program. As for the antivirus software, it's a brand new PC and the freebie Macafee firewall was running. I'll disable it and see if that was the issue. Any other ideas?

To anyone that has done the latest CMR update that has popped up for our trucks: How long did the update take?

I ask because I am taking my truck to the dealer on Thursday morning for routine maintenance, and I am going to present a valid customer complaint to them to get them to recalibrate my cameras and IPMA. I wanted to see if I can bribe the tech to do the CMR update for me, too. I'd rather spend $50 getting him/her a nice bottle of whiskey or whatever than give Ford $50 for another 2-day license.

I don't have blue cruise so that explains not having it.
Before doing all these updates the truck would dang near drive itself. Now it's more annoying about me wiggling the wheel to know I'm there. Seems they cranked up sensitivity on one of the updates.

Tonesto7 hack into them with his preferred development tools. Edit the code to ALWAYS see my iris as looking appropriately out the windshield.

Send the "custom" files back to Jesse

Jesse schedules the team viewer side-load remote session with my truck.

I send $1000 to both Jesse and Tonesto7.

And then I auction my PERFECT Powerboost land yacht to the highest bidder and move to an island in Greece.

Definitely try disabling the McAfee - the built-in Windows Defender should suffice. I've also heard issues with McAfee after 30 days or so if you don't pay for the license. Hopefully others can chime in as well as I'm not as familiar with FDRS as others.

Mine was doing this yesterday after a while of running updates. I restarted the computer and it worked again.

@rugedraw I did a CMR update on April 25th along with a bunch of other updates. I did the newer one last Wednesday evening, and it took around an hour and a half if I recall correctly.

My Mongoose should be here later this week, and I plan on the FDRS process starting early Saturday morning. Today I connected via FORScan to look at DTC's and there is only one but it is with the APIM and it reads as follows. . .

Code: U3000 - Control Module

Additional Fault Symptom:
- General Checksum Failure

Status:
- DTC Present at Time of Request
- Malfunction Indicator Lamp is Off for this DTC

Module: Accessory Protocol Interface Module

So is that error going to cause issues during the FDRS process? Also, I have read the part that FDRS will reset any changes you have made with FORscan, and I have only made two so far. One to disable horn honk, and the other was tire size since I am running 35x12.5. Will it reset both of those? should I change them back to "as built" of just let FDRS do it's thing and check them after I am done?

You need to refresh the update app. Next to update there is a refresh like a browser would have. Click that then run again
