I guess I need to lock doors then. Need to mow the backyard away from the truck.

Well now I'm freaking out a little...

I come out to check on my long IPMA update and Windows 11 apparently decided to reboot my laptop and install updates. WTF!

I hope the truck is okay I can't get back into Windows. ?????

You’ll be fine. My battery charger wasn’t working right and my battery died during one of the big updates and I was able to start over once it charged back up. They really make this idiot proof

I read some posts that said FDRS and everything totally shutoff after the IMPA update.
Does it reboot the PC?

I finally got back into Windows and hoping it updated then Windows just updated itself because PC was idle before I checked on it.

Edit:
Appears that the update was completed and it was waiting for me to hit OK button.
I restarted same process I was using and it went through all the steps without writing to any of the multiple modules involved then got to end it said complete and back to updates screen. ?

When you said you were going to lock the doors and go mow the yard I immediately thought "sure hope he has his computer settings set to allow multi-hour continuous use without user input"

Most don't.

I sit in my truck for hours at a time. It's often my office. So FDRS updates aren't particularly a test for me to stay in the truck.
Iced tea, music is playing, got my phone/tablet, seat reclined......

Power settings are set to never turn off laptop.

Apparently when it was idle no longer writing to truck Windows saw CPU usage drop and no activity and decided to update itself. Fresh laptop, I have that set to not happen on desktops. Opps.

USB inserted for the IPC update and all I had was sync "indexing" pop up then nothing.
Hasn't told me to leave USB inserted as mentioned in the FDRS instructions.

How long do I keep it in before giving up and going with CAN method?

From following this thread, it seems the USB method for the IPC has been failing more often than not lately. The quicker you start, the quicker you can move on to the next step.

I bet it’s there, you just don’t know it. Go into windows and look at all of your software installs in the settings section where you can uninstall unneeded apps. I bet you find one that says VCI Software.
Ok..will have a look next time I at the Laptop.

Been a busy day and still not up to an APIM update yet. ?

22177 sync version at start 10:30AM
DDM Drivers door
PDM Passenger door
PCM Powertrain
ABS
GSM Gear shift
SCCM Steering column
BCM body control
CCM cruise control included these...
IMPA image processing (long)
PSCM power steering

Then...
IPC instrument panel
GWM gateway 9:50PM

Oh and one of those changed my truck back to Canadian I suddenly had 600+ KM to E on dash. :)
Thankfully that's a touchscreen setting easy to fix.

Lol @fordtruckman2003 now you're confusing me, you're updating your truck and working 2 threads on the forum at the same time! :)
Well that was more about the OTA process and trying to figure out where I was starting. I'm still confused on that.

Up to 22192 sync now and have to do more updates on CAN bus because USB doesn't like me.

If you don't finish tonight, be careful tomorrow morning in FDRS Ford is known to update there servers on Sunday mornings and this sometimes creates connectivity issues when trying to use FDRS.
Good luck! You'll be very happy with the result of your efforts!
