my dealer is keeping my truck overnight because they said it takes around 5-6 hours to update all of the modules. does it typically take this long to update all of the modules?
Yes, and it can also take longer depending on how many updates are needed. IPMA update alone took me over 3 hours to complete the update.

Sometimes when you do updates and then scan again, there's another round of updates for some modules. things are layered or stepped up to the latest version sometimes.

thanks for the info.

I’m grateful my dealer has decided to manually update all of my modules for me instead of waiting for all of the OTA updates or buying a Mongoose cable/FDRS subscription myself.

Your dealer updating anything at all is an extremely rare occurrence. Even if they don't get you fully updated you are getting something many have begged to get for years. Good dealer you have there.

I completed an FDRS update on Tuesday and all seemed to end well. All modules seemed to update and I was able to complete an IPMA alignement to get split screens. I lost Reverse Breaking Assist and had it before the updates. After completing all modules showed green and I didn't see additional updates available. I checked the Ford App to see if it would show what software had changed, but it just shows 6.5.0 updated susscefully on 6/7. This morning I get in the truck and checked the software update screen and it showed updates were completed but no information was available. This afternoon I get in the truck and it shows software 23-PU0813-DOR-UP2 failed to load. Since this update appears to been pushed last fall I would have expected the PU would have loaded with the FDRS update I completed of both door modules. Can anyone enlighten me?

I am getting an “Internal Error” when trying to login. I have logged into the motorcraft service website beforehand. Anyone else seen this or is able to login right now?

It's a very common problem to have issues logging in for the first time. Some people have had to install an older version of FDRS; others have had to create a new password even if the existing works in Motorcraft. Which non-dealer login type are you using?

thanks for the response! I successfully logged in a few months ago several times. What fixed my issue today was installing the most recent version of FRDS 40.4.5. I’m in and updating!

Should I manually clear the PCM values after the most recent PCM update? I thought that happened automatically but have seen complaints recently about shifting issues post update that a relearn maybe fixed.

USB Update Procedure:

Certain modules need to be updated via USB flash drive. This is especially true for GWM, APIM and TCU update. FDRS tool will prompt you to insert a blank USB flash drive into your PC. Make sure the drive is formatted to exFAT. When naming your USB drive, make sure your volume label is 8 characters or less, alpha numeric only, no spaces. The tool will copy all necessary files onto the flash drive, once done, you will be prompted to insert it into your truck's USB hub under the HVAC controls. Follow the on-screen instructions carefully. It may take a while for the update process to show up on your SYNC screen, so be patient. FDRS will instruct you to have your engine on, while the your truck copies the update files from flash drive. I found this not necessary if your truck is connected to an external power source (battery charger/maintainer). Once done, you will see a Restart Required prompt on your SYNC screen. At this point turn ignition OFF and open the driver door. DO NOT REMOVE THE FLASH DRIVE. Wait at least 10 minutes, close the driver door and turn ignition ON. You should shortly get a message Update Successful and you can remove the USB flash drive at this point. Follow the instructions in FDRS to finish the update process. Make sure you battery is in good shape and is able to provide a consistent charge, otherwise you might get stuck in a "restart required" loop.

APPENDIX I:

Certain updates (such as PowerUp 2.3.0 OTA equivalent) would require to wait up to 30 minutes before powering the truck back on after Restart Required message is shown on SYNC screen

APPENDIX II:

If you updated the DDM/PDM modules, you need to run the 'Power Door Window Initialization' for both modules. This can be found in each of the module task window (on the right hand side) in FDRS. This is needed for your windows auto open/close to work

APPENDIX III:

Your truck may exhibit a Reverse Brake Assist Unavailable message after module programming
has been completed. This may be due to a network interruption from programming or configuring modules, which can cause steering center find to be reset. When the steering center find is reset, this causes various features to become disabled. The steering center find can be relearned by driving the vehicle approximately 5 minutes above 18 mph (30 km/h) straight ahead on a flat surface with no steering inputs for a few seconds. When Steering center is found the Reverse Brake Assist Unavailable message will go away.

APPENDING IV:

Any references to the old VCX Nano VCI interface in the posts below should be ignored as this interface is no longer supported by the FDRS and is know to cause issues
My computer only has 1 usb port can I unplug my mongoose to upload the updates on the flash drive then plug it back after …or must I have 2 ports so both can be plugged in at the same time

From my understanding, the update process itself will reset the learning table in the PCM.

I am honestly not sure . If I had to guess, I would say you can do this. Once you do the USB update and do another network scan, FDRS should detect the APIM update is there and go on to the next one. But again, I am not sure.

I’ve done this successfully. I doubt that’s recommended or the best practice tho. I would get a hub to avoid issues. They’re cheap.
